conjunctivitis when pregnant - help?!

I have quite bad conjunctivitis in one eye and have been prescribed some eyedrops which are not recommended in pregnancy, so don't want to use them. Has anyone been given anything which is safe, or do you have any advice on how to get rid?! I am sponging with salt water and bathing with optrex eye wash (safe). Thanks in advance!

Who prescribed you the eye drops? If it was your GP I doubt they would have done if he/she didn't think it was safe.

they said that it should be safe in the second trimester only but he didn't want me taking it for more than 3 days (this via the nurse who I saw who checked with him) and she recommended I speak to the midwife on Monday and not to take it. i checked online when I got home and it says not to take it... ho hum.
