Brown blood clots-experiences?

I am 18 weeks pregnant. Had a scan on Tues at FMC as I was having brown discharge for 2 weeks. They saw a "very small pocket of blood" in the placenta. She did not use the term "subchoronic hematoma" so I do not know if this is the same. Anyway, the brown discharge has continued, with clots...does the "brown is good" still apply when clots are involved? Has anyone else had this and everything been ok? My consultant does not seem to think its a concern, as it's brown, but the clots are freaking me out.

Hi Banana,

Didn't want to leave your post unanswered. I don't have quite the same experience as I'm only 14 weeks with my first but I have had several bleeds already!! I've only had brown blood and I had one small clot as well. So far all my scan have been fine and I've stopped bleeding now!

I'm sure more experienced people will be along to answer shortly. Are you having another scan?

Thanks littlepic. They said to come back in 2 weeks as it should have healed by then, but I know it can take a lot longer than that. I've had 2 clots today, but they are more mucousy than tissue (sorry TMI). The second rather large....it freaks me out!

I think it's totally normal to freak out I was a blubbering mess every time I saw any kind of blood and if it happens again then I'm sure I'll be the same.

Perhaps another call to consultant or midwife would put your mind at rest?

Sending you a big hug xxx
