Anyone got severe sickness hyperemersis with second pregnancy and not first?

I thought I'd try to find out if anyone else has had a HG free first pregnancy with normal ms twice a day, and then a second pregnancy (13 years later, different partner) with hyperemersis? All the lierature points to first pregnancies and younger mums (im 37), or pregnancies with previous HG?

Pg 1, aged 21 - pretty bad sickness throughout, medication in early months but not for long and overall manageable.

Pg2, aged 24 - some sickness throughout again but manageable, no tablets.

Pg3, aged 28/29 - terrible nausea in first 4 months with some sickness but lots of thinking I'm about to be sick without actually managing. Found it very draining and did have tablets again but only for about a month.

Pg 4, aged 31/32 - Hyperemesis - uncontrollabloe vomiting, couldn't keep anything down including the anti sickness tablets, admitted to hospital and on a drip and once settled stayed on tablets till mid 20 weeks. Stopped routinely being sick at about 29 weeks but still sick on occasion and nauseous most of the time now at 38 +4. Never doing it again!!!

First pg had a different father and was a girl but next 3 all have the same dad and have all been boys. I think its just bad luck TBH.

My sister. Same Dad. Both boys.

I don't know about the 'literature' but during my first pregnancy, 3 years ago, I had very standard morning sickness - nausea from weeks 6-11, no actual vomiting, that 'gagging' feeling until about week 14. It didn't stop me doing anything.

My second pregnancy (just ended - DD is 13 days old!) I suffered horrendous and debilitating HG and it didn't abate until about week 25. I was on anti-sickness drugs just to help me keep liquid down and spent weeks unable to get out of bed. Thank God my lovely mum came to look after DS!

Why do you want to know? I am in my early 30s and DH is def father the cause of both pregnancies!!!

Thanks everyone.....JoyceBarnaby Ive been reading around the research, since I'm more or less confined to bed, had 1 hospital admission and living on ondansetron anti sickness meds to get through the day, and I still have 24 hour nausea, very little appertite and lots of retching....although now the 20+ being sick has settled with the tablets, without them I'm sick straight away anything I eat or drink!
I was wondering becuase all the support groups say first pregnancies or previous pregnancies with HG are most common, and younger mums (early 30's) I wondered if there were many others with a different pattern since most support group members seem to fit........I have been worrying too, since alot of groups state downs may be a cause, and since I didnt have it with my first....I've been a little worried!x

I was sick once in my pregnancy with DS. I was 32.

2 years later I was unable to keep water down when I was pg with DD.

Same dad both times, same level of fitness and health. Just very unlucky, it was grim.

Thanks Meglet I think I read too many things on the internet! I need to chill out a bit and try not to worry............and its very grim, but it'll all be worth it! I wished for morning sickness as its a sign everything is going well, I had a miscarriage in feb at 6 weeks and didnt get as far as sickness, so when this first kicked in at 5 weeks, I took it as a good sign....by 7 weeks I was in hospital on an IV drip not even able to keep ice down....I got what I wished for!!

Well, my Dr simply told me that, as horrid as HG is, it's a really good sign that your body is doing what it's supposed to!! She is a fab and experienced doctor and antenatal care is her speciality.

I know how tempting it is to google because I did it myself. I must admit, though, I've never heard a Down's connection before. If you read the HG support threads on here, I think you'll find lots of poorly pregnant ladies but lots of healthy babies. I did once read that HG can be a sign of a ginger baby (I kid you not!! How could there possibilt be connection with ANY hair colour?!!) so I decided the Internet can tell you anything!!

I am pleased to report that DD is gorgeous, healthy and not ginger!!! (Not that it's a bad thing - just disproving that rather odd Internet theory!).
