I am 26 weeks pregnant with my first and am suffering from such severe exhaustion that I can barely function. I don't even feel I can get behind the wheel of my car. This has only started in the last week or so and my diet is good. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? What can I do to get out of this cloud.

Hey I feel the same as you! I just try not to do anything after work and then on the weekend catch up, thats how I survive :) Im 27 weeks so I guess it must be normal :) Hope you feel less tired soon!!

I'm nearly 29wks, and although I feel pretty tired most of the time, such an extreme change in your levels of energy doesn't sound normal....Maybe mention it to your midwife at 28wk check up if not before? Could be anaemia...worth getting it checked out. Thyroid problems can also start in pg so def worth chatting to someone about it.

lol i'm going that way too and I am 27 + 2. I need more sleep but my baby loves to boogie and it is hard to sleep.

like misty said just incase get it checked out I was tired in first trimester but thought it must be pregnancy everyone said the same turned out my thryroid had gone so underactive I had no thyroxine in my body I felt like I had no energy to even get dressed have shower etc not saying its that! But get it checked out to be sure also iron levels? I feel better now I do think some of the tiredness was down to being pregnant but I was literally just lying in bed all day nooooo energy so got it checked out but was like that 2 weeks before had it checked out and doctor told me it could have effected the babies development which really upset mexx

My iron levels dropped in the third trimester, although they had been fine before then. Cue crippling tiredness.

Pretty easily sorted with some Spatone (liquid iron supplement which absorbs more easily than tablets and causes fewer stomach ishoos).

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and this week I've been feeling that first-trimester exhaustion all over again, which is infuriating as I have such a busy time at work at the mo.

How do they test iron levels - is that a blood test? I'm going in for the glucose test this week so maybe they'll do it then.

BeeBread · 19/06/2011 15:40

Yes, it's a blood test. But if your fingernails look pale that is a sign of anaemia too.

Hi, am 26 weeks too and soooo tired. Think it is mainly cause baby seems to jump around A LOT at night, proper big pokes and somersaults which actally started hurting me. After lots of nights of that and cramp it really starts catching up with you. Almost everyday at work I get told that I look knackered - class don't seem to notice but only 6 weeks of term left - am dreading it if I am this tired now.
