Hi all, I'm 39 +1 and fo the last 4ish weeks I've had an aching feeling in my nether regions. Its been getting progressively worse and has spread all down the inside of my thighs at the very top. Its making walking and turning over in bed increasingly difficult. It feels like its bruised but doesnt hurt to touch or press....does anyone know what it could be?

Pressure as the baby moves down and into position?

CBear6 · 17/06/2011 09:26

Sounds like baby weighing on your pelvis, is he/she engaged? DS didn't engage until I was 6cm so I don't know from personal experience but your symptoms sound like what SIL described when her baby engaged.

I get it sometimes now, 28wks, and MW told me that when I have it it's likely baby has dropped into my pelvis and when it's gone it means she's popped out again.

that would make sense, he/she was engaged 3/5ths, then 2/5ths then 5/5ths so has been popping in and out. I'm taking this as a good sign he or she is engaging further. The doc I saw yesterday couldnt tell me unfortunately.

I know just how you feel!! I AM 33 +1, I'm sore when turning in bed or after sitting for a while.
A possibility is symphysis pubis dysfunction.

I have exactly this. Is SPD. Hopefully you are on the last bit anyway so shouldn't last too much longer. At this point all pregnant women's pelvic bones are essentially coming apart in preparation for birth - mine have been like it since about 20 weeks.

Hopefully baby comes soon!

Ahh I was fearing it being SPD....what are the implications for labour? I've been a bit worried about it affecting my birth. Would water make it easier for moving positions? I really hope the baby comes soon too!!!
