Just curious to see if its true that you can choose the sex of your baby.
Iv heard and read that you have sex on the day you ovulate to conceive a boy anf sex 3 days before favours girls??

I have a DS and know i conceived him on the day i ovulated as i used the ovulation kits when trying to conceive. :/ Anyone tried and used these methods or diets ect and got their baby blue or baby pink??

Yes..twice!!! DS followed by DD :)

yes - have 2 ds's,currently 32 wks pg with DD. took ages to get pg this time though due to avoiding peak time - needs patience and determination and a very willing DH.

Sooo it must be right then! I know any gender baby is lovley and im thankful of my DS but in the future if we were to try again it would be nice to try for a DD. I also have a step DS soo a bit of pink would be nice in the house :)

It's just a theory. And like a lot of theories, in reality it actually doesn't work.

No studies have ever found that it works like that because the factors affecting conception are too complex for that one factor to determine anything. As you'd probably expect the results always come out at about 50/50.

And if you like anecdotal evidence, I had sex only on the day of conception (just because dh had been away on a course) and have a dd to show for it. And an ovulation stick only shows a hormonal surge, not ovulation. So it's perfectly possible that you timed sex to coincide with the surge but then ovulated later.

But if you want a lot of people who are obsessed with gender and conception, try the in-gender site. Actually, a lot of them are lovely but they know every theory going. And then some.

I'll let you know in Nov!! I do have a ds who I "knew" would be a boy cos of ovulation date and a ds who I thought would be a girl for same reason. This time I didn't even think I'd get pg so far away from my (expected) ovulation date i was. I guess if bump is a girl there may be some truth in it. I have five friends that the timing thing appears to have worked for (But it IS 50/50) so who knows. For info, I "wanted" a dd but once I cme eye to eye with ds2, I realised how it didn't really matter to me anymore. ( My kids are all individuals and I don't agree with gender stereotyping so their flavour is/shouldn't matter to me)

shellmc · 17/06/2011 11:33

No it doesnt matter at all, and i dont want to sound as if i would be disapponited with another DS cos i wouldnt. All that matters to me is that you have a healthy baby :) I was just curious as to wheter it was right and if it worked for others ?
Please post and let us know whether your baby is a Blue Bump or Pink Bump :)

I will!! I didn't mean to sound judgmental about baby flavour. TBH I've love to have a girl this time. I'm not into girly girls but i think it would be nice for my boys to have a sister. See how the other half exist!!! Hehe! Notice I say "flavour SHOULDN'T matter to me". It dosn't in the big sense of mattering, but if does a little bit!! I don't think I'm weird in that. X

Here's a tip: if your bump is blue either your new top is not colourfast or you need to get to the doctor quick! :o
