Hello, in brief, have moved to the country, applied for ante-natal but it looks like I might not get in - I've been a full time nanny for 18 years so not too worried about most aspects of 'care' but know very little about birth, breathing techniques etc and was wondering, apart from the fab advice given on MN, can anyone recommend any online 'classes'? I've looked on youtube but there are so many to choose from its all a bit of a minefield really.
Thanks muchly in advance...Smile

Have you tried NCT? www.nctpregnancyandbabycare.info/
We've booked to have some classes before the birth. Is that what you meant?
Sorry - hope I've answered the right question!!

How far along are you and how much were you looking for?

Quite a few Independent Midwives also run antenatal classes (both group and private) - could be worth a try?

We also used NCT classes, and I got hold of some Natal Hypnotherapy CDs - I don't know how much credit I should give them, but I stayed very calm and controlled during both my labours (one spontaneous home, one induced hospital).

I'm unable to drive and money is very tight, it looks like my OH is going to be away working right up until the baby comes, thats why I've not booked NCT -too expensive at the moment and not sure how I'd get there...

Its worth talking to them - IIRC the full fee wasn't cheap, but I'm pretty sure they have a much lower fee schedule for people who'd struggle to pay. It may also be possible for someone else in the class or the teacher to give you a lift (we were about 5 miles away from ours and in a village, but turned out another couple in the group lived 500 yds away).

May not be possible, but if you don't ask you'll never know.

sorry - that was all wrt NCT. Could well apply to courses run by IMs as well, though :)

Brilliant, thanks tangle I'll give them both a call tomorrow.
