Pain in left bum cheek and tingles down left leg

12 weeks pregnant and since about 8 weeks have been getting a twinge in my left bum cheek, only once in a while, not too bad or anything but noticeable twinges. Now it is getting a little more frequent/worse and I am having tingles in my left thigh/calf as well. Anyone know if this is related to pregnancy?

So I rang the physio referral unit and he said it sounds like both Pelvic Girdle Pain AND sciatica and he is sending me a booklet with exercises to do for 2 weeks - and if no improvement he will make an appointment to see me. But the worst thing is he said do nothing that makes it hurt - this includes walking - how will I stay fit? I will obviously go swimming but walking is free and always accessible. Not very happy but if it only makes it worse, I suppose there's no point.

I agree it sounds like sciatica - it's too early for the baby to be compressing any nreves, but frequently when the hormone Relaxin is released into the body during pregnancy (to make our ligaments softer to enable the body to cope with birth), your body can go out of alignment, causing compressed discs etc.

I also agree with whoever suggested yoga exercises - there are some very good ones for sciatica, and you can either research it online, or you can getyour GP to refer you to a physio who can recommend the exercises.

Yoga and pilates are both great disciplines to get into during pregnancy - the alignment of your body will never have been so important, but obviously make sure you stick to exercises/levels of difficulty that are suitable during pregnancy.

I've got something like this as well, last night I got stuck for 5 mins as everytime I put weight on my leg I got shooting pains up to my lower back, was really weird.
