Overly excited about icecream

I am going out this afternoon, well in about 20 minutes to get some gelato........I can barely contain my excitement and keep making actual squeaking noises.

Anyone else get overly excited about such small pleasures?

Ha ha - enjoy! You've made me crave some of the delicious blood orange sorbet they have in my local fab ice-cream shop. mmmmmmmmmm.

I live near the Bonds ice cream factory, and they have a lovely shop I get excited just passing it.

I have started making my own lemon sorbet - its actually really easy and icredibly cheap to make. It just hits my craving spot!

Don't worry Renaissance you can defs eat sorbet - it's just sugar syrup and fruit. Unless there is raw egg in there it's safe - I make it all the time and never put raw egg in, although maybe in a shop selling fresh icecream you should check.

I think I read it somewhere but I may have dreamt it, I do hope not, because it means I have avoided it through 3 pregnancies for nothing

It's the raw egg thing have no idea why I have avoided it, most sorbet doesn't contain raw egg anyway.

I didn't think anything was wrong with it, thanks mopsytop. My OH is a chef and makes all kinds of sorbets for me with no egg involved. So HAPPY I can keep eating it all!

Yeah some have raw egg in, but I doubt commercially produced ones have - you can always check the label. And in an icecream parlour you can ask. Go get some sorbet into you! mmm I am totally craving it now. But my icecream maker is at home (I live away from home during the week as doing a PhD and work here during week but husband still living in our house/working in same job so he stayed put) so I will have to buy some.

For some reason I had listeria in my head (not literally). Off to shop think I will buy 2 tubs, why not now I know it is ok I will eat lots to make up for the last 25 weeks! Might even include the 80 weeks of DD and DS and buy 3 tubs

Its the raw egg you need to avoid but I think that mostly in home-made icecreams.

Oh my goodness it was divine! I had a scoop of white chocolate and one of hazelnut. It was almost pornographic. DH was embarrassed to be seen with me!

oh listeria is a worry with Mr Whippy and sort serve ice cream form machines. Its not the ice cream itself but the pipes and stuff could harbour it I think.

i cant wait to go out for a meal this month once hubby is paid as i can get ribs and a ice cream sundae.... i'm such a saddo but makes me happy.

I don't think that makes you a saddo! Going out for a meal is the best! Did everyone get there sorbet? I was struck down by a hideous migraine so couldn't (migraine with only paracetamol for relief is like a horrible punishment for some unimagined crime - I only hope I don't get another any time soon). Maybe will get some this weekend!
