I was told i was having a girl at my 20 weeks scan, we bought lots of pink dresses and decorated the room pink, i was looking forward to meeting my daughter and we had picked her name - then i had a boy !!!

IIRC, if you're told it's a boy, it's more likely to be correct then if they tell you it's a girl. It's not 100% accurate either way though.

I've heard of quite a few people that thought they were getting girls, but actually got boys, but don't think they usually get it wrong if they say it the other way round. I think if they say its a boy, then it usually is

A friend told me a new diective had gone out to midwives cos actualy its changed so that its more likely to me wrong the boy-girl way than girl -boy and midwives needed to give parents this information !

i had a private 3d/4d scan at 27 weeks and have been told its a girl and was told the same as dogtanion, if its a girl they see the labia line or sumthin but could miss a boys privates but think its really unlikely nowadays for them to get it wrong, iv never known any1 except my partners mum about 10 years ago to have been told there havin a girl and it turns out a boy! i'll be devastated!

vickiyumyum · 15/11/2005 18:57

i was told with ds1 at the scan that it was a girl, but i knew(had a feeling) that it was a boy and nothing could have convinced em otherwise and i was right!

ds2 they wouldn't tell us as had moved by then and it was hospital policy not to tell the sex.
