Hi!

I am 38wks new mummy to be (and probably a bit overly nervous!!) I have been having upset tummy (nothing too major) since yesterday and I have read that it could one symptom for going into labour.. I don't have any other symptoms though apart from Braxton Hicks (which I have been getting for last couple of months now) Am I being paranoid and just having a plain upset stomach..?
Had my 38wk antenatal check up on Wed and baby's head is engaged but MW said for first time mothers it should be by this time anyway ie. doesn't
mean I will go into labour anytime soon..

If you have any reassuring advice I would be very grateful! :o)

Have you had any of the other 'signs'... i.e. have you had your show?

There is a slight chance but to be honest at 38 weeks for a first time mum it's more likely to be a case of a normal upset tummy.... Sorry

No I haven't had the show or anything else.. I did think could be the iron tablets I am on as well (two a day)

Probably just an ordinary upset tummy, Thanks for your reply! :o)

Iron tablets should only make your poo black/dark...

I assume they were prescribed for you?

Best plan is to watch and wait and all will become clear. Some women do get upset tummies before labour but usuualy it is accompanied by period type pain/bachache which indicate early labour. Just relax, drink plenty and see what happens. xx

This happened to me from about 36/37 weeks up to the beginning of this week. Had really loose movements for about 2 weeks and now back to slightly difficult again. Am 39+2.

Thanks for all your advice! Just been out to dinner with DH and feel fine. I am
going to take it easy and to be honest sounds pretty similar to what LDNlady had. So I think I was just a little over worried! :)

xx

ps. KnitterNotTwitter, I did get the tablets from my gp as I am slightly anaemic. MW said best to take them until the end of pregnancy even if my iron levels are better now.
