Contraction question

I was wondering if when contractions begin does lo's movement slow down or stop. Lo is very active still at 36+3 and wondered if I could use this as a sign labour had begun,any ideas?

I think it is an old wives tale that babies slow down in labour. Certainly my dc1 didn't.

I have been told that any change in movements should be reported to the midiwfe, and I assume that includes early labour. Clearly in active labour they should have a handle on what is going on anyway.

The midwives constantly monitor baby's heartbeat anyway in labour as they can detect if the baby is getting stressed or not! Early to mid stages of labour don't really effect baby at all, although you may not be able to feel baby wriggle during a contraction! Although when your waters break you can feel soooooo much more as there's no cushion.
