gender scan at just 18/19 weeks...

I am going on holiday so had to squeeze my scan in before I go..

I will only be 19+1, does anyone know if this will stop them from seeing if its a boy or girl? is it too early? we want to find out...

shouldnt be too early, I had my 20 wk scan at 19+3 in my second pregnancy, they told me girl. They were correct!

I had DS2's at 16weeks so don't worry.

Is it just a gender scan or your anomoly scan as well? They can tell the gender from about 16 weeks, but certain other things can't be detected until after 20 weeks, such as the heart chambers and things like cleft palate.

I read somewhere that very experienced sonographers can get it to about 80% right from much earlier, so I'm sure it'll be fine - so long as baby is willing to let you have a peek!

But make sure you get another scan for anomolies too.

I had a scan at 16 weeks and they could have told me then if I wanted to know so you should be ok!

I had my anomally scan at 19 weeks and they could tell the sex then. I was told before that there might be issues with spotting certain problems that are required to do the full scan but I would have to rebook if there was a problem. Thankfully all was fine and I didn't need to go back.
So be prepared if it is an anomolly scan that you may have to rebook if they can't see all they need too.

I had a scan at 18 weeks and they could tell, he did say 90% girl and that I will be able to confirm it at the 20 wks scan at 95% :) So I am safely assuming GIRL :)

Heya, my 20 week scan was actually at 19+2 and we were very clearly shown our babies labia, so i think by this point you can be 95% sure that it's accurate.

Its a bit more hit and miss at the 16 week scans i think.

I was told at a scan at 14 wks she thought girl, but wouldn't buy anything pink just in case. Went back last week at 20 weeks and confirmed girl. The sonographer said she should get a pay rise!

I have just been told at my 14 week scan it is a boy. DD2 was sexed at 12 weeks and that was spot on too.

An experienced sonographer will be able to tell early on.

Yes, I had mine at 18+6 with my third pregnancy and they said little boy - and it was! As others have said here, if the sonographer is good and the baby is in the right position then they will should able to tell. Good luck! Hope you find out and can enjoy knowing while you're on holiday :)

I had mine at 19 weeks due to Christmas, I was worried they would not be able to see everything they needed to but my consultant said that's why they are encouraging people to call it the anomally scan as it can be anything from 18 to 21 weeks so it wiil be fine.

Definitely not too early. I found out both of mine at the 12 week scan.

I was told at 12 weeks it was 95% sure it's a boy (looks very male I was told) and then at 19+3 that it's a girl, 100% sure. I'm taking it that it;s a girl but wondering if it is possible that it could be a boy.....?

Told at 15 and a half weeks with ds4. He was pulling it last week at my 20 week scan - so definitely boy behaviour! Also with ds2 I could see his willy at 13 weeks- sonographer said too early to say and just probs the cord but was defo a willy (I'm not willy obsessed BTW-just have lots of baby boys so been through a fair few scans).
