Um, for what? You? Baby?

shirleycat1 · 31/05/2011 16:37

Ha, I thought exactly the same when I was shopping for ds1. They're always in the baby section aren't they. I bought them, but have never used them for anything apart from sorting out bodged mascara. I would say don't bother!

Mmmmcheese · 31/05/2011 16:43

If for baby, I have only ever used them to get dried up bits of snot out of DS's nose!!!!

Wottywot · 31/05/2011 17:05

I use them to clean out ears (mine and DD's) they are fine but you have to be careful not to push them into the earhole too far,for cleaning around the outside of the ear they are good.. That's what I always thought they were for anyway? Confused

Wottywot · 31/05/2011 17:06

Oh and handy for cleaning around the belly button too especailly when the chord stump is still there.

moregranny · 31/05/2011 17:27

I was always told never to put anything in ears that was smaller than your elbow !!!!

Tarlia · 31/05/2011 17:41

We use them to clean little waxy ears and also his tummy button got a bit infected, so we had to dig around in it to clean and dry it

Jill72 · 31/05/2011 20:46

Right - might get a small box just in case rather than the huge box of ten thousand for a pound I saw at Asda!!

Cheap ones are a false economy - not enough cotton wool on the end so they're a bit scratchy! You don't need them for babies anyway.

Jill72 · 01/06/2011 06:57

Buds are binned !!! One more thing to cross of the list!!

Actual cotton wool is better. When DS1 had an ear infection the doctor said cotton wool twisted is far better than cotton buds. And you can use it for all of the above uses too.

Coppernoddle · 01/06/2011 18:28

This is abit weird but my sister used to use them on her daughters bottom!! She used to get horrendously constipated as she was special milk, so she used to put a little bit of vas aline on the end and just tickle her bottom hole with it and it all used to come shooting out!!! I've never done it as never needed to, and it was very strange thing to do!!! Just thought I would share that with you!!!

Jill72 · 01/06/2011 18:58

err.. thanks - was just eating tea :( lol!
