I think it depends on your health authority. Here you can ring the Health centre and just make an appointment with the midwife. I didn't even see my GP for the whole of my pregnancy.

At our GP's surgery you can just phone and ask to make an appointment to see the community midwife. They then deal with the paperwork to be sent to the hospital etc.

Hiya hun!
I'd give the community mw's a call and tell them your fears. I don't see why you'd have to see your gp anyway. My mw's said if I get pg again, to ring them straight away as opposed to the gp (and my gp is lovely). Have a chat with them and see,
All the best xxxxxxxxxxxx

Ring your GP's surgery and they will book you in with the midwife. She needs to see you at 8 weeks!!!

Just rung mine and the receptionist booked me straight onto the midwifes list where as last time I had to see a doctor first.

There are no midwives at my gp surgery, i have a number for community midwives from the hospital website. maybe ill call them i am just worried they will be abrupt with me. i know i am being a pussy.

There shouldn't be any problem as they need to see you now.
