A colleague at work was telling me that his mother was given Guinness on prescription, ( this is many years ago!), perhaps we should have Mumsnet start a campaign to get the NHS to reinstate this maternity perk! lol!!

Oh yes, my mum often reminds me that she was prescribed bottles of Mackinsons stout when she was pregnant with me. For iron deficiency apparently. Sounds nicer than those tablets that leave you constipated! :)

I used to have a pint of guiness whilst doing the last feed of the day, dd1 slept like a dream!

My dd1 is 13 and I was told to drink a pint of guinness a day as I was anaemic.

Apparently champagne has more iron per ml than guinness Wink
