.... is not nice!

Rather than pissing about with slices I just peeled it, chopped it into bits, including the core as that has the most enzyme in it, and liquidised it.

I am now forcing myself to keep it down, as it keeps wanting to make a reappearance! I have 3 more to have at 2 hourly intervals too, I know that 8 is the required number but 4 is going to be my limit I think!

And i bet it doesnt fecking work Angry

Why are you having to eat all those pineapples ffs?

Is that what they make pregnany women do now?

Bogeyface · 25/05/2011 16:14

Because there is an enzyme in pineapple, mango, kiwi and...something else that I cant remember (!) that helps to ripen the cervix and it is supposed to help get labour going.

It probably wont but if eating several pineapples a day will help me avoid hospital and an induction then I am prepared to give it a go! I am only doing this while i wait for my accupuncture appointment in 3 days!

That sounds completely mad - eight pineapples in a DAY? I doubt I eat eight in a year.

Are you sure someone's not playing with your susceptible pregnant mind?

Paschaelina · 25/05/2011 16:32

I think it would be easier to do the sex thing 8 times a day - and a whole lot more fun.

owlbooty · 25/05/2011 16:43

Not sure if it will make the baby exit speedily but it will almost definitely have that effect on your digestion Grin

Hope it works for you and you avoid the induction :)

ShirleyKnot · 25/05/2011 16:44

No you cannot eat 8 pineapples a day you absolute LOON! Or even 4 FOUR PINEAPPLES? That's mad.

Um, I did the oil of evening primrose up my mimsy thing - I popped the next day.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/05/2011 16:45

There is a rumour going around the June thread that a bit of pineapple up you fanjo will do the trick.

Maybe that would be easier than trying to eat 8 whole ones.

MsChanandlerBong · 25/05/2011 16:48

Lol at what owlbooty put! I agree - eight pineapples and I would be glued to the toilet for a week Grin

I've never had an induction, but surely to god it is easier than trying to keep eight pineapples down?!!

MsChanandlerBong · 25/05/2011 16:49

Confessions that sounds like it might sting...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/05/2011 16:56

Hence why, so far, it's still just an untried rumour. Grin

ShowOfHands · 25/05/2011 16:58

It doesn't work. You need to eat the 8 pineapples in one sitting, leaves, peel and all to even start replicating the enzyme that is produced naturally. That's the point. It does NOT work. Stop it. Sit down. Eat no more pineapple.

Imnotaslimjim · 25/05/2011 16:58

My friend did the evening primrose applied directly at 37 weeks, and went into labour that night. She was massive, and baby was a very healthy 9lb 4 - can you imagine if she'd gone another 3 weeks!

I don't totally believe it was the oil that did it, but its worth a try!

KittyChat · 25/05/2011 17:01

ShowOfHands - don't encourage her!

Boogiemumma · 25/05/2011 17:03

How funny!! Pineapple up the fanjo. ... lol lol lol. It is a load of rubbish though you'd need to eat so many more pineapples for anything to happen and you're more likely to bring on labour through the runs that it'll give you! I'd agree an induction is worth avoiding if possible - maybe try a long walk and a good talk to your bump, it's got as much chance ;)

BarefootBaritone · 25/05/2011 17:57

tell me more about the evening primrose thing - i'm being bullied daily by the hospital to be induced (by my dates 41+3, by their scan date 41+6. I have been told they will not let me go past friday.
Have had one sweep, another booked for tomorrow, 2 accupuncture sessions and nothing. I'm not worried the baby's very active, good heartbeat - why must they bully us? :-(

ShirleyKnot · 25/05/2011 18:01

Oil of evening primrose thing = you know those capsules you can get, they're like a gel substance? Couple of them used as a pessary.

Bogeyface · 25/05/2011 18:17

I cant use EPO and there is no proof that that works either, another old wives tale, the same as the pineapple.

I do know someone who ate 7 pineapples, and she was ill! I am eating a couple because a) It might work! and b) I have very very bad constipation, that is my main motivation tbh.

i'm sure most of these things have been provd old wives tales...

neverlookback · 26/05/2011 16:28

i ate 2 pineapples in last pg but didnt work, i was induced at 42 weeks exactly and it was not that bad u know, it just started me off then was totally natural after that and ds was so im not as afraid this time and ds was10lb3 having said that im only 28 weeks so by 40 ill be tryng every trick in the book!!
