Had sweep today, getting regular contractions but they dont hurt! Any ideas?

You'd think that after 5 births I would know but I have always gone into labour via my waters breaking as the first sign, or i was induced.

Getting them about every 15 minutes or so and while they are a bit gripey and low grade periody, they are not what I would consider proper labour pains. I am a moo-er, there is no doubt when I am labouring :o

So, do we think its a reaction to the sweep (although they have only been regular for the last couple of hours and I had the sweep at 10 am) or the start of something?

Hi, I'm no expert but with my ds had a sweep in the afternoon, felt crampy like period pain that evening. Slept fine then in the morning had intermittent crampy pains, very low grade, not painful. Ignored them till lunchtime then thought I'd better get checked out so went to hospital and they monitored me but weren't sure if I was in labour or not. 4 hours after that was def in labour and ds was born! So basically - could be!

I had the same last friday. sweep at 10.30 am, low level period type pain started a few hours later. unfortunately this lasted for 4 days getting stronger and closer together until disappearing yesterday I am 40+6 and have a feeling I will have to be induced at +12.

Thanks Icanonlytry, they are still coming but not increasing or getting more painful so I suspect that it will come to nothing.

Ah well, I have my induction booked for a week on friday so the end is in sight for us both next week!

I'm unfortunately having the same after two sweeps, low grade contractions maybe one strong one then nothing.... induction tomorrow

I wasn't given an induction date when i was at the consultant on Friday. She said I was already nearly 4cms dilated so would be back within the day
Booked an appointment with the midwife tomorrow to see what she says, half hoping I dont need to be induced but tempted to ask if my waters could be broken to get things moving because DD is off school for 12 days after Friday and would rather have the baby before the holidays.
