Weight gain in first trimester?

Hi firstly I feel guilty about asking such a unimportant question when people have much worse worries to ask about but was just curious if anyone has put as much weight on as me!

My normal weight. The weight I was before I was pregnant was 11 stone 7.

Im 10 weeks pregnant now and weigh 12 stone 7 exactly. I was a bit more than this but have managed to eat more fruit veg healthy stuff like pasta pot etc last few weeks instead of just eating chips and ice cream which is all I could manage for a while without feeling sick!

After speaking to people been told 1 stone is quite alot and have already been told I look like "im blooming" lol.

How is everyone else getting on?

I have gained almost 2 stone! Only 12 weeks at the moment.. My mum said she ballooned in the first trimester then it evened out. Fingers crossed!! Weight gain due to eating all the time to help nausea and not being as active due to nausea!

12 weeks here and lost about 4kg due to morning sickness. It's DC2 and I'm determined not to gain more than 1.5 st this this time. Gained 2 last pregnancy and it was too much.

Breastfeeding didn't help me lose the weight either. I hold on to it til I start weaning.

How can you be 'only allowed' to put on a stone in your whole pregnancy? Who's policing that? I put on 5 stone on my first pregnancy (!) and not only am I still alive, but I lost it all within six months and have never even been cautioned for excessive pregnancy weight gain [erm]. In fact I have lost every single pound I gained in every one of my three previous pregnancies and fully expect to lose any weight gained on this one. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.

I'm 18+5 & 5'2" I was 7.6 stone pre pg & now (last time I weighed myself- given in now) am 8.5. Before TTC I worked really hard to put a bit of weight on as I was a little under weight had I only known how qwk I would pile on the pounds now!
It's not a major worry I know but over never weighed this much before & worry how much ill finish up at & how long it'll take me to shift it all...not enough to stop over eating of course lol

I put 10lbs on in the 1st trimester. I know some put no weight on at all...eating was the only thing that kept me from being sick! Made me bit sad to see other mums at NCT who are still really slim (I've put on 2.5st now and 34 weeks) but I know everyone's different xx

gimmeadoughnut123 · 01/01/2019 11:33

When they weighed me at my 12 week scan I hadn't put any on. But that's because the sight of food turned me stomach.

Now I'm in my 2nd trimester and I still feel that way about savoury food unless it's something I specifically fancy at the time e.g. I've just had heinz beans with the little sausages in. Sweet food though- I can wolf it down all day. And I have been eating more of it than I would like. So I imagine I'll start putting on.
I did get my husband to cook some vegetable soup (homemade, I'd have done it myself but it would make me feel so sick) so that I could quickly wolf it down knowing that I was getting something nutritious in me.

I put on about 7lbs in first trimester, up to about 1 stone now at 19 weeks. Feel huge!

Honeybee79 · 01/01/2019 15:50

Everyone is different and puts on weight at different points in pregnancy. If you gained a fair amount in the first trimester then it will probably even out now, just try and eat well.

Am 37 weeks. Am scared to even look at the scales after Xmas Blush

So glad to have found this thread... I’ve started off at 60kg and at 11 weeks I’m 64.5kg so I’ve put on nearly 9 pounds Shock. I’m 5ft 7 so I had a healthy BMI before my pregnancy. My midwife told me to ‘reign it in’ which is easier said than done. I’ve been craving mostly salads, salmon, chicken and feta/mozzarella cheeses. No chocolate and no chips or crisps so fairly healthy. I’ve had similar weight gain with my DD 3 years ago and I lost the weight without trying within 4 months postpartum so not too concerned.

secretlyhermione · 21/06/2019 14:51

@anne1979 Exact same height and weight as you pre-pregnancy. I lost a kilo in the first 13 weeks, but then managed to gain 4 kg at my 20 week scan, so basically gained that in the space of 6 weeks! Midwife also reprimanded me so now am trying to up my activity levels with pilates and swimming and walking as much as possible. I've gained mostly due to the bump though, am trying to not be too concerned, and won't weight myself again till my next midwife session in three weeks. Fingers crossed its a normal healhy weight gain...

Anne1979 · 21/06/2019 15:48

It sounds like you’re spot on! Try not to worry about the weight gain. The range of what’s normal is huge and everyone’s different... hope you continue to have a happy & healthy pregnancy!

Soov567 · 21/06/2019 18:00

I’m 11 weeks and am exactly the same as when I found out, 64kg (think that’s about 10 stone?). I’ve had bad nausea and some sickness though so once that passes, I’m sure I’ll put on loads. I put on 40lb last pregnancy

Mamabear12 · 21/06/2019 22:36

I’m surprised the midwives said anything about weight. Mine never do. This is third pregnancy. And I get HUGE each time. This pregnancy I started 61 kilos (I’m 5’8) and now 63 kilos. My first two I gained 23 kilos each time and lost most of it both times. Pre pregnancy weight I was 58 kilos and after having two kids mainly stayed around 60 which I was fine about as 58 was quite slim for my height. I’m 14 weeks now.

fonxey · 21/06/2019 23:12

I'm not sure how much I've put on exactly. I maintained the same weight of for a couple of weeks... But i ate nothing other than junk last week ... I doubt tell like I've put on much more. It's mostly my boobs i think!

I'm trying not to be paranoid. I've always been naturally slim so the chance in figure is scarring me. I'm not stupid, i know of course it will and it's a good thing... But I'm scared I'll either out on too much or not enough.
