Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh no, everyone's going overdue! Eeeek! Eefs, you made me laugh about 'everything her ds has ever looked at' Stripeymouse - mince pies, I AM impressed! I've bought a couple of pizzas for the freezer but that's it. Keep meaning to make mounds of lentil hotpot and then not getting around to it. The house is very clean though and I'm being a bit manic about it too, much to the shock of everyone around me. First thing I did this morning was have a go at dp for not hanging the washing out. Since I don't usually take any interest at all it wasn't fair of me really but hey, who said I had to be reasonable at this point? I'm feeling a lot better about the birth thanks stripeymouse, have cried buckets in the past couple of days and assume it's my hormones. I just want it over with NOW iykwim. I really, really want to know I've done it and survived and we're both ok and normal (the baby that is) and then I NEVER have to do this again.

motherinferior · 13/11/2003 12:44

Put a message on your answerphones saying you've not had it yet?

Mind you, you can't escape the prying eyes of fellow-mumsnetters...

Grommit · 13/11/2003 14:12

Well having just been put through a glucose tolerance test which caused me to spend 2 hrs fainting have been told my blood sugar level is normal. This is what a blood test revealed last week! What a waste of time. Now where did I put that box of chocs....

chanelno5 · 13/11/2003 15:27

Here here Grommit! Same thing happened to me the other week and I haven't stopped eating the chocolate since.

Whellid - I'm sure I'll be 6 days late too soon. Wish I could fill the time with somthing more constructive than moping and eating but I just can't be a**ed!

Any other tips for kick starting labour? Still nothing happening here.

sprout · 13/11/2003 19:37

Pupuce, not sure if the mumsnet police/the overdue brigade will let me post on this thread still , but to answer your question, I was at Ixelles, where dd was also born in 2000. Apparently Baron Lambert's maternity ward was transfered to Ixelles about a year ago, and I kept coming across midwives/nurses grouching about the changes and the inconsistencies between staff from the different locations. But in general everyone was really great, much friendlier than last time, and the food had improved too (important if you're there for 6 days!) - really quite edible.

pupuce · 13/11/2003 20:06

Hey I was born in Ixelles

Ruth21 · 14/11/2003 00:06

Congratulations sprout. Good luck all the rest of the November-due crowd. I think there are fewer of us due in December?

chanelno5 · 14/11/2003 20:23

Waters broke at 5.30pm. Been seen at hospital, everything ok. Back now waiting for things to start up. Feel very strange as waters have always gone when well into labour before. Thought I was wetting myself!

Grommit · 14/11/2003 20:46

Chanelno5 - oooh, how exciting you are on your way! Good Luck - hope it happens soon!

pupuce · 14/11/2003 21:16

Channel5 - don't know what they told you or what you plan to do but you can safely wait 72hours.... your labour is VERY likely to start before that anyway.
Good luck

WideWebWitch · 14/11/2003 22:17

Oh, how exciting chanelno5, thinking of you, slightly envious and looking forward to the announcement and details

StripyMouse · 15/11/2003 09:40

really excited for you chanelno5 - really looking forward to see how you are doing...

monkey · 15/11/2003 15:22

Good luck Channelno5, maybe we'll share the same birthday, as it were....
I started having contractions about 1-2pm. They're every 4 minutes, but only last about 30 seconds. They're not very strong - ie can walk & talk OK throught them, but they are very uncomfortable. I 'phoned the hospital & they said to come in to get checked, but don't feel like it(??), .

This is totally different experience to ds, where contractions came on very strong, very sudden & labour was less than 2 hours. Any idea what 30 second contractions 4 minutes apart suggest - hours to go? Call my friend to come round now?

WideWebWitch · 15/11/2003 15:30

No idea monkey but I'm excited for you too. Hope mears or pupuce or someone sees this and can answer.

motherinferior · 15/11/2003 19:54

Wow hurrah both!

Come on www...I'm listening

chanelno5 · 15/11/2003 20:10

Hurrah, I'm a free woman! Please see my birth announcement.

How are things with you, monkey? Fingers crossed it will be other with soon. Thinking of you.

LIZS · 15/11/2003 20:13

good luck Monkey.

chanelno5 · 15/11/2003 20:13

other should read over there, of course! It's been quite a day!

WideWebWitch · 15/11/2003 21:07

Oh monkey, came on to see if there was any news from you, hope it's going well and there's an announcement soon. Chanel, have posted congrats to you on the other thread, well done! MI, am desperate for this to be over so will try sex later I think. Can't face a curry as am worried about (actually, no, TMI, just deleted that line but birthing pools and sieves, ykwim!)

pupuce · 15/11/2003 21:26

Sorry missed Monkey - I think she is probably in labour..... quite likley might have had it by now !!!!

Rhubarb · 15/11/2003 22:09

I've been getting stronger Braxton Hicks lately and I do feel irritable all the time (although dh says this is normal!). I'm really fed up now and want the baby OUT! My ribs are bruised and hurt when I get up and sit down, my stomach hurts when I roll over in bed, my ankles are swollen, I have to take iron pills so to counteract the constipation they will give me, I have to eat All Bran for my breakfast every day, my skin is tight and itchy, my thighs ache and I can't walk very far, my back aches and boy, am I pissed off!
Anyone know of any good inducements?!

monkey · 16/11/2003 08:32

So happy for you, Channelno5 - hope the stitches not too bad. Lucky you.

Now for the miserable bit - sorry. I am now back at home. I had contractions from 1 - 2 all afternoon. They weren't strong, but weren't BH's, and coupled with back pain. as they started to come every 3 minutes, sometimes 2 I finally agreed to go into the hospital & after moniutoring, they said the contrations weren't at all strong (knew that, i was just concerned becasue they were so regular) anywya, to cut a long story short, they gave me pain klillers & I went to bed & I woke up waters still intact, no regular contractions, just the occasional strong pains. I am severly depressed to have had a wasted hospital trip, false labour, and still no baby, 4 days overdue and sil now returned to UK.

Mears/Pupuce - can this go on forever, or is there a fighting chance I might finally have this baby today or soon ish???

WideWebWitch · 16/11/2003 08:48

Oh monkey, poor you, the worst of all worlds eh? I so hope this happens soon for you. At least your DH is home today isn't he? Rhubarb, I know how you feel, horrid isn't it? Sympathies m'dear, counting the days for all of us. One day in the not too distant future this thread will be just a faint memory for all of us!

monkey · 16/11/2003 09:38

just had 'show' (but no baby)

Grommit · 16/11/2003 10:08

Poor you Monkey - hang on in there it can't be long now!
