Hi this is my first time on here so hi everybody, I had an emergency internal scan yesterday due to frequent spotting and according to my dates i was expecting to be 12 weeks but the scan showed 8wks+2 . I have to go back next week for a second scan but has anyone experienced confusion like this with their dates and could there be a more serious reason for the baby measuring small.

when my niece found out she was pregnant she was a few weeks behind what she thought. she is due any minute and everything seems ok.
Wait till your next scan and they should be able to tell you more then.
I shouldnt worry too much just now.
Were your periods regular before?

Hi i had spotting like you very early on in pregnancy & ended up having 3 internal scans, each time showing a healthy heartbeat & baby was fine. by my dates i was due on 14th April, my periods were always regular on a 28 day cycle, so I had no reason to doubt my dates. But the scans each showed I was due around the 24th April, putting me back about 10 days, I have since been for my dating scan & again the date is 24th april, so I am going by these dates, making me 17 wks tomorrow. to explain the difference in dates they just said i must have conceived at a different time to my normal ovalation! this is my 4th pregnancy & with all 3 of my others my dates were always the same as the scan dates! So i wouldnt really worry & of the course the baby will come when it is good & ready!

a friend of mine went for her scan 12 week one and was told she was only 9 weeks - went on to have a healthy little girl.

fingers crossed for u.

NEVER believe their measurements!!! They made me panic constantly about baby being small...then told me at the end when I was 35 weeks, that she weighed in at about 7lbs.At 38 weeks, I then had a 6lb 2 baby, who was (according to the doctors)going to be about 8lbs!!!!!
It's all guess work!!!!!

Busyalexsmummy · 15/11/2005 09:18

Dont worry too much, it could just be that you ovulated a lot later than you thought. I expected to be 14+ wks when I went for my 12 week scan and was actually exactly 12wks, I was also sure of my dates, but must of ovulated later than I thought

nhynes13 · 15/11/2005 19:11

your dates are the exact same as mine! i was expecting to be at least 12 weeks but was 8+2 wks! my bump is always the smallest at my antenatal appointments and its quite concerning but iv been told baby is maybe big - i think im going to be early though so u might too!

Thanks everybody for your advice. I have been away form work for a while and so have been unable to get online. I have had three scans since (two of them internal) and all showed a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat TG, all concur that my due date is 13 June. which is only two weeks out which is not so alarming.
