Kicking patterns?

Just a quick question about patterns of kicking - I'm 19+1 and have been feeling kicks/movement for about 3-4 weeks now. Normally baby is very quiet in the daytime with just the odd kick or squirm, and active when I sit down in the evening/after an evening meal. Some days (like today) I am being kicked throughout the day. Have you found movements solidly follow a pattern or to be a bit more random?

Also I sometimes get twinges around my cervix, presuming this is the baby kicking on a nerve? I've read posts from people further on in their gestation, and it seems quite common, but wondered if it was possible for baby to reach that area this early on?

I'm 23 weeks and yes it's utterly normal for the pattern to change in these early weeks. It's because the baby is still relatively small in comparison to the uterus so it can hide away, turn its back and tuck itself up. Where it is and how it's lying will determine how much you feel. Once they're more squashed in and less mobile, the kicks follow more of a pattern. I think they say around 28 weeks you should expect some form or reliability in movements.

This baby is footling breech and I get nerve twinges in my cervix. He's been doing it for weeks now. Used to get the same when dd was engaged and hitting a nerve there.
