Hi, I'm a first timer and my doc has already prescribed folic acid which I am taking every day without fail but I was wondering whether I should be taking any other supplements.
Advice please....xxxx

The only thing I took last pregnancy (along with folic) was iron. MW checked my iron level every month so took it on her direction. It can cause constipation so don't take it unless necessary.

I have taken a great all-round supplement in both of my pregnancies, as well as whilst breastfeeding. They are called Solgar prenatal supplements and I get them from my local health food shop. When I found out I was pregnant with ds1 I started taking Pregnacare, which you can pick up in pretty much any chemists, but they really constipated me. I found out from a friend that this was the iron in them, and suggested the Solgar ones as the iron is from a different source that does not clog you up.
