I have been home from one day after being hospitalised since tuesday.
I ignored the constant urinating putting it down to normal pregnancy symptom.
I ended up with severe vomitting, a temperature or 39.9, low BP and a pulse of 125.
I was on maternity but under critical care team.
Thankfully baby stayed stable, and entibitotics started to show signs of working after 48 hours. Still don't feel 100% but feel much better than I did.

Oh love. :( Big hugs, and I'm sure you are happy to be back home.

Well, it's true I do pop to the loo a lot but that's because I'm drinking a lot of water I think.

I was having some itching ahem Blush down there and my midwife gave me some cream for thrush, which seems to be working. I remember having a UTI the month before I became pregnant however, so if anything happens I should be able to run it by that.

I'm sure it was a massive shock and I'd be pretty scared myself. I'm glad you and the baby are ultimately okay, just get some rest. :)

How scary - I'm glad you are feeling better.

Do you mind if I ask how often you are urinating, and were there any other signs? I'm under midwife's orders to drink more and so I'm going to the toilet more often than normal. Wouldn't say it's constant though.

Glad you are feeling better. Tbh I don't really know what to look out for Blush

WidowWadman · 22/05/2011 11:15

It's a scary experience, isn't it? I've been hospitalised with UTI (kidney infection) myself a few weeks ago, and it really knocked me sideways.

Glad you're feeling better nunnie, but take it slow now - I tried to go back to work two days after coming out of hospital, and in the end ended up being signed off for a full two weeks. There's no point in pushing yourself too much, I learned the hard way.

Things to look out for are frequent urge to pee with not much coming, stinging, etc although that doesn't mean that if you have to have these symptoms. My first symptom was flank pain - which we first put down to posture as my urine sample was clear, hours later I started getting shivers and feeling really unwell.

If you get any symptoms like shivers, vomiting, etc, go to hospital asap.

Thank you everyone.
I went from not urinating at all in the night to getting up 3 times, no real control or build up went from not needing a wee to being desperate during the day, also had lower bump pain which I put down to stretching.

I made an emergency appointment on Tuesday morning because my syptoms went from feeling a bit of nausea in the morning to shivvers and lots of vomiting and a throbbing headache with really bad lower back pain. Luckily I got in within a couple of hours and was treated as very urgent on arrival at hospital, so all my blds and tests were done quickly and treatment was started asap, UTI was conrimed on Friday when culture was back.

Ok, now I'm worried. I'm 33 weeks and I'm up a few times a night needing a wee - have been for a while now - also during the day I think I wee quite a bit.

I posted on here a couple of days ago about lower bump pain (mainly centre/left and not really there at all when I sit down but quite painful often when walking) that has been with me for a week or two. I had drawn the conclusion it was stretching. Apart from persistent thrush and constipation (sorry if TMI!) I am ok, though.

I have an antenatal appointment on Tues so was planning to discuss then - that sounds fine, right?!

nunnie · 22/05/2011 20:28

For your gestation is sounds ok, but do mention it on tuesday and if you start to feel any other symptoms then get it checked sooner.

Thank you. I assume that means if I start feeling sick/unwell/feverish? Sorry to be a PITA - I've been much more of a worrier/whinger with this pregnancy than with my first!!

nunnie · 23/05/2011 08:19

I meant the constant urinating and bump being uncomfortable being ok for your gestation. However if the lower bump is painful rather than achy I would mention it to your midwife tomorrow, better to be safe than sorry. My symptoms on the morning when I became very unwell were nausea, and lower back ache and a really bad headace, all of which increased during the morning then I became shivery and started vomiting.
If you are worried then do please mention it tomorrow, it may well be just pregnancy groans but it is always worth checking.
This is my third and I am a bigger worrier and whinger this time round, think it's because I can compare it and have an rough idea what is normalish.
Hope all goes well, not long for you now.

Hi Nunnie, hope you're okay now. I was in hospital a week ago as I was extremely sick and got dehydrated. I had no idea I had a a UTI. I was weeing a bit more than usual but I have two babies pushing on my bladder so I didn't think anything of it. After 2 hours of sickness I started getting tightenings and they were worried I was having a late miscarriage (I was 21w). Thankfully all is now okay after antibiotics and fluids but it was scary.

I went back to work a day after coing out of hospital and after 2 days felt exhausted. I was seeing my consultant anyway and she signed me off for a week. I'm now resting at home which feels odd as I usually only take time off work if I'm so bad I'm in bed, but I just feel like I'm having some duvet days!

Just be really aware of your body and if something doesn't feel right, then say something and get it checked!
