Kingston Hospital experiences?

I am 13 weeks pregnant and going to give birth privately at Kingston (i.e. I will have my consultant with me at all times, even though I will be giving birth in the NHS part of the hospital). Just wondering if you can share your birth experience at Kingston? Cleanliness? Midwives? Speed of pain relief? I am really worried as my MIL was there when she had cancer and it was dirty and the staff were rubbish. I realise that maternity could be different though.

Few years ago now (DD is 4) but I found Kingston fine. I had a very good male midwife called David and a very positive birth experience.

But the care during labour was better than post-birth, I was pretty much left alone and wish I'd been give better breast-feeding guidance. Kingston can get quite busy and I think they didn't have the staff around to help.

Nearly all my NCT group gave birth at Kingston and those that have had second babies have all happily gone back.

It was quite clean.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago because I will be in the area at 39 wks. Feedback was generally very good although there was a question about the consultant care and facilities for less straight forward deliveries. Epsom was recommended as a larger consultant led unit with better facilities for complex deliveries and aftercare.

I had have two very different experiences at Kingston. I had a stillborn baby and recently ds1. Both times the consultants and labour team were very good. Good responsive pain relief. Post birth was a little patchy. All v clean. Good luck.
