I would think so, but your skin sensitivity can change during preg so you may find it more painful than usual, or you may be left with worse red patches and 'chicken skin' afterwards.

I tried shaving to tidy myself up when quite huge. Made a right bloody mess !
I imagine if you can get someone to wax you it'll be a much neater job!!!

Not sure if this is applicable but.... now I'm pg I just go for a basic bikini wax rather than the full Brazillian as I found I got more infections with the Brazillian which is something to avoid while pg.

I'm with the others... safe, but hurts like hell

I'd forgotten that until I saw this...

homemama · 11/11/2005 15:08

It's the way the girl asks you afterwards if 'that's ok for you'. And you're like, 'how the hell should I know'.

homemama · 11/11/2005 15:09

I say that as a woman who looked due by 5mths!

expatinscotland · 11/11/2005 15:10

Yep it's fine.

Use Emla creme about an hour before your appointment.

I got a 'special' a couple of days befor my CS. Trust me, I felt crippled by the waxing yet the CS only felt nippy.

My OB in New York said it was safe... but... she said make sure you go to some place where you feel good about the level of cleanliness and hygiene.

She was actually in the process of researching how virus and bacteria can be spread with waxing if the salons were sloppy about how it was done. (yuck.. I know...) As apparently, the wax is hot enough to keep soft and spread- but not hot enough to kill off bacteria. She was suspicous that the HP virus that is linked to cervical cancer could be spread this way (but I must state that I don't know what the final research revealed).
But you can imagine if they are smearing the same wax from the same pot on several ladies 'special bits' a day (again, yuck...) Mind you this was in NYC, and not in the UK, but it does make you want to feel comfortable with how hygenic the whole process is, esp. during pregnancy.

FWIW, i think it's only more sensitive in the first trimester, I got full hollywoods done during the last trimester and they were fine.

Much better IMO to be hairfree during childbirth and all the bleeding after.

I dont think it is ever safe to wax a bikini line!! i would rather go through natural birth again without pain relief than have my bits waxed. It hurt so much.
