I have found out today (36 weeks) that baby is now engaged. Midwife said this was very positive, that the labour would probably be quick and baby was ready to go.

I know that second babies tend to engage later or not at all until labour, so wondered if anyone had any experiences of a fairly early engagement. DD engaged around now but was back to back and was induced in the end due to waters breaking early so I don't have experience of a "normal" labour.

I am now hoping for scores of stories of incredibly easy painless labours Grin

My bump (second pregnancy) has been engaged since about 34 weeks.

I am now 40+6. But he has been back to back for the past few weeks which might be why he's running late.

Thanks MrsD. I was hoping for an early baby but clearly the 2 don't automatically follow! Fingers crossed you don't have much longer to wait.

the trouble is that they can pop in and out of the pelvis. Yesterday morning I was 2/5 engaged and looking "good" for labour according to the mw at the hospital. 36 hours later and no sign of anything happening and I am 39 weeks!

That said, I didnt engage at all with the last 2 until I was well in labour so fingers crossed for both of us!

Nooooo Bogeyface - don't say that! Anyway we can wedge them in there? Grin

Yes fingers crossed it won't be long for you now, lots of luck!

Probably not what you want to hear but my baby's head has also been engaged since 36 weeks. Am now 39+4 and despite LOTS of signs, still no arrival yet! Getting very very very fed up now, feels like baby is about to fall out at any moment!

GoodVibrations · 20/05/2011 23:14

P.S it's my 2nd pg

With my second pregnancy I engaged really early (about 32 weeks) and he stayed there getting lower, but he didn't make an appearance until 40+10. Sorry probably not what you want to hear but hopefully yours will make an appearance very soon x

I wish my baby would engage! I'm 37 +2 and have been told that she is 'unstable' Confused. She keeps turning from breech to transverse to head down. Grrrrrr
