Hi, I am 18 weeks now and have only had a few odd flutters so far but nothing consistent. Have any of you others started feeling proper movements yet and for how long?
Ps its 3rd pregnancy, think I felt LO start moving about the same time last time.

I'm pregnant with number 2 and have felt movements from about 16w - but I felt the first flutterings at 13w with DD so was later this time.

I think a lot of it depends on the position of the placenta and where the baby is - at this stage there's a lot of space for it to move around.

ohbabybaby · 17/05/2011 08:20

with first pregnancy I felt it early - could feel it on the outside at 17w. 2nd pregnancy and like you had a flutters around 17/18w but not enough to be completely certain, probably not certain until 19w, which I thought was odd given supposed to feel it earlier 2nd time round. Turns out anterior placenta this time! Plus my mum pointed out that the baby had a pre-stretched home (cheers!) so more space to move round this time without bouncing off the walls.

hey borisneedshaircut, i'm the same, almost 20wks with my 3rd and not feeling much at all, the odd flutter here and there but nothing consistent either. Getting worried if i'm honest :( Got my scan on thursday so hopefully all will be well at that.

Second pregnancy, anterior placenta, and tomorrow I'll be 19 weeks and the difference between last week and this is amazing. Last Monday I was all umm aah is this movement or not after feeling nothing really before then. Now for the last three days I can properly tell it's movement if I'm sitting still.

ninipops · 17/05/2011 10:37

Second pg and didn't feel anything til the day of my 20wk scan. Started feeling things at 17wks with my first ao was getting a bit worried but turns out this time I got anterior placenta.

Thanks ladies, feel a bit better now knowing that. I guess it does depend on the position and placenta ect. Hope you are all doing ok. How are you ll feeling>?
I have had it really easy so far with no sickness etc...:) lucky me!

I had 3 months of almost continuous nausea, a d&v bug, cough/cold that turned into a chest infection requiring antibiotics, flu, sinusitis for weeks which has now turned into the worst sinus infection ever and I'm on antibiotics again. I'm feeling pretty whiny to be honest!! And I think people will soon stop asking how I am!

Oh no sounds horrible Continuum, I feel very lucky having had such an easy rd.

So glad I found this thread, am 18 wks with third & I too am stil only feeling the occasional flutter, and only if I really concentrate. Am sure I felt movements much earlier with my 2nd. My friend told me not to worry & its all down to position of placenta. Glad to know I'm in good company ladies.

Borisneedsahaircut · 18/05/2011 09:15

I think so crave. I think I am probably a lot more active as well this time as I have a toddler to run after all day! I think they tend to kick once you are relaxing no? I don't do much of that now!!

Boris - well I expect my reward for all this to be a second half of pregnancy that's a breeze!! I hope I'm not disappointed!!

Yeah I still can't feel mine when I'm up and about or if I'm not thinking about the area.

icravecheese · 18/05/2011 15:21

Yes, running around after 2 little ones all day long means I get very little time to concentrate on baby movements (although even when I do, in the evenings or in bed, there is still nothing at mo!!). My mum has just said exactly the same as ohbabybaby when I told her I had felt no movements at all yet....pre stretched home / lots of space in there for baby to move around in, hence can't feel anything from the outside. Mums know best!!

Borisneedsahaircut · 18/05/2011 18:48

I hope so too Continuum!
Thats true icrave - I guess there is more room and it has already been stretched - I had my last one 18 months ago so I guess it still is!!
