I have read a little about hypnobirthing and it sounds fantastic just wanted to tell you all about it incase you havent heard about them its supposed to help you stay relaxed during birth as some of the pain can be down to anxiety. Well I want to give it a try the training may all go out the window at the time of the birth but its certainly making me feel positive!! Today at work I meantioned it to a lady who runs the clinic I work at and said how I had read about it and really wanted to find a class then she said come here and there was a poster on the wall about it lol!! Fancy that.

I did them. We had private classes because I was 8 months pregnant when we decided to do them, so we had to do the course in a shorter amount of time. It was brilliant. I had a fantastic birth, at home, with no pain relief - that wasn't entirely deliberate, I thought I would have gas and air but the midwives didn't come fast enough. They tell you in the classes that often you are so much more in control that the midwives dont think you're as far along as you really are, that was certainly the case for me. They came out really begrudgingly, saying that I has at least 8 hours to go, DS arrived 30mins later. It was also very fast, which they say will happen if you manage to stay nice and relaxed.

The most useful parts for me were the breathing techniques and calming visualisations, and the light touch massage that DH did for me, that worked wonders. I think some of the other stuff would have been more useful if I'd had a shorter, less intense labour.

Go for it - and believe you can do it, none of this "it'll all go out the window at the birth" - it works on the basis of you believing one hundred percent that you can do it.

This wil sound mad but I'm actually looking forward to giving birth again, it was such a deeply satisfying experience.
