Past week or so been getting horrendous headaches like someones hit me across the head with a iron bar like I am suddenly hit with this throbbing headachy and just have to go to sleep its fine at 10 or 11pm but been getting it at 6 having go sleep and then up late and up all night so trying stay up till 11pm but my head is killing me I heard something interesting today that aparantly the baby eats the fat up in your brain so you need fatty acids but fish not recommended cause of mercury just this special oil mix so looking into it dont know if that is the reason that my head hurts. Is my baby eating my brainnnnnnn!!!!!!!! Got this advice off a chiropracter.

I had the same problem during early pregnancy. I spoke to my midwife and she told me that nearly all headaches were caused by dehydration. Try upping your water intake and see if that helps. It definately helped me after a couple of days of guzzling water. Good luck!

It is more likely to do with changes in hormones. I got terrible headaches in both my pregnancies around the 9 or 10 week stage and they were the same as the ones I got in the pill free week when I was on the pill. The only thing that worked for me was Paracetamol and caffeine ie Paracetamol plus. The caffeine is really important.2 tablets will give you 120 mg caffeine which is about the daily limit in pregnancy. I know everyone is different but it could be worth a try? I took these daily for about 10 weeks of each pregnancy and both DS and DD are fine! Good luck, those headaches are awful!

I have this nearly every Friday nothing touches them until I sleep and they always result in me vomiting alot! Spoke to MW yesterday she said it was hormones and I just need to monitor that they don't get worse or more frequent.

I've been having this too. Like H007, normally ends with me worshipping the porcelain gods!

My DP rubs my big toes when it happens and that seems to sooth it a bit - left big toe corresponds to right-side of head and vice versa. I was dubious at first, but does make a difference (also just nice to get a foot rub!)

TrinaW that is an awesome plan!

I had these headaches in my pregnancy with DS from around 14 weeks till 22 weeks. Nasty things that wake you up in the night and last till lunchtime. I had several a week but tried to only take paracetamol when they were really bad. It was hard going as I had 2 other kids under 4 to look after as well.

My doctor told me it was hormones. Interestingly never had them when pregnant with the girls : ) Currently 9 weeks pregnant with no. 4 and no headaches so far so who knows what this one will be/will happen over the next few weeks.....

Like a lot of undesirable pregnancy symptoms it will pass you just have to hope quickly.

I had these from about 8 to 11 weeks, having rarely had headaches before. There isn't much you can do but make sure I drank plenty (which I know can be difficult if you feel sick) try to sleep and I resorted to paracetamol on one or two occasions for a bit of a break. It will get better/be replaced by some other delightful symptom soon!
