Hi all, i'm 20wks this week and have just gone to the loo after feeling itchy down below (sorry TMI!!!) and spotted a threadworm :( we've had them before in the famliy (2other DCs) but i'm panicking as can they harm the baby in anyway? is there something i can take for getting rid of them??

Oh I feel your pain! I have 2 dc's as well and one certainly seems prone to them (fingers crossed it's been a while!). Luckily I have so far managed to avoid them but I did get a bit panicky when one got them early on in my pregnancy and was convinced I would as well. Unfortunately you can't take anything for them and just do the usual things, wash hands, scrub nails, change towels, etc. As far as I know it won't harm the baby, just annoy the pants off you!

Obviously call the midwife/gp if it gets really bad or you're still unsure of what to do. Fingers crossed they go away soon.

Your gp can prescribe something if you past a certain point (I think 1st trimester).

One of mine was prone for a few years months but she grew out of it. Now ds has taken her crown and has had them twice in this pg so far! As soon as I suspected, I was hyper hand health conscious and so far I've not succumbed.
