Pain when walking?

I'm 23 weeks today and for the last week or so I've been getting pains when walking. It's right in the bottom of my bump and sometimes in the sides too, it feels almost like a stitch but in multiple places and it can be quite sharp at times.

Has anyone else has this? It goes away when I stop moving around so I'm guessing it's ligaments, etc. I'm avoiding the doctor because he'll refer me to the shitty ante-natal physiotherapist who I saw when I was carrying DS (long story short is that she fitted me with a support band three sizes too small, I wound up calling her a rude name next time I saw her, and the consultant at my hospital lodged a complaint about her incompetence).

Yep! I have that too, it really slows me down when it gets going, I am now a snail crossed with a duck! I am 34 weeks now and have noticed that it seems to come in phases - some weeks are bad and then it goes for some. I think it is called round ligament pain and is caused by the uterus growing and turning as your baby grows.

So glad it's not just me then! I feel like some sort of waddling penguin and it's so much worse when I'm pushing DS's buggy too so I was sure it was tissue-related in some way.

You're on the home stretch now though :)

I get this too, I got a bit worried about it once but figured I had just walked too long a distance and my body wasn't liking it. Feels like the round ligament to me too and kind of like a stitch.

I doubt it is anything to worry about, just pace yourself where you can.

I agree with everyone else re: round ligament pain, I am getting this too and I'm currently 21 weeks pg. Annoyingly though it seems to only happen when I am running late to get somewhere or bursting to use the bathroom and am nowhere near one!

I got this and found a band really helped. I bought mine from Jojo and I carry it in my handbag so I can pop it on when I need to because you're not supposed to wear them all the time.

What is the band like Teasie? Is it a belt one? I'm a bit worried about bands since that physio but the one she put on me was a full length one, from ribs to thighs like a bloody girdle or something! It was that small that I had to cut myself out of it and then I had a massive bleed not long after (which the consultant attributed to the band being too tight). I'd probably try a belt one though if it gives some relief.

Hi Cbear, it's this one www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+Carriwell-Maternity-Support-Bands+A5740. I was size 12 when I got pregnant (now 39 weeks) so I got a medium one and it still fits. It's pretty comfy but definitely not for wearing all the time, I just put it one when I'm going for a walk that will take more than 20 minutes. Hope that helps :)

I've got this too - much worse than during my first pregnancy. Thanks for the hint re bands - will defintiely look for one of those!
