5 weeks - lower abdominal pain

Hi

I've not long discovered that I'm pregnant and estimate that I am around 5-6 weeks. Today I have been experiencing some pains which are worrying me a little. I have been getting a slightly sharp tugging pain in my lower abdomen on the right. The pain's quite gentle and not at all severe and I've not had any bleeding or discharge. So just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and if it's a normal twinge??

Congratulations!

I had this definitely, like a nagging, slightly tugging sensation that wasn't particularly painful but definitely noticeable iykwim? I didn't have bleeding at all, and discharge kicked in at about 7 weeks. Am now 12 weeks so not that much further on but the tugging sensation has gone (and replaced by other niggles!) - think it went around week 7. I put it down to implantation at the time, not sure if I was right!

Hope that helps

Hey, thank you and that does help. The pain's been on and off all day, but it's not bad and if I wasn't pregnant I'd probably just assume it was wind and ignore it! It's so reassuring to hear that you have experienced a similar thing. I keep telling myself that if it was something to really worry about it'd be more painful than it is and/or I would be experiencing some bleeding.

Congrats to you too! x

Hey I had severe pains that were nearly making me pass out, to cut a long story short it turned out it was due to a cyst that grows to protect the egg...

After this at around 6 weeks I had an aching, kind of like period pain, the early pregnancy unit I was under said that its normal and is your womb expanding etc

Is say if they get worse get it checked out... but just for peace of mind x

Hi,

also 5-6 weeks - also getting odd pelvic pain - a mixture of wind/constipation and period type - with less of a crampy nature - more of an ache, seems to come and go. Have creamy discharge and keep knicker checking in panic, but everyone seems to be getting some grumbles and aches - don't worry -I am not trying not to be too anxious (?!?)

PoppysMom · 16/05/2011 08:25

fr00tbat your post was me 6-7 weeks ago! :)
Don't worry, the permanent knicker checking will subside together with the cramps

Thanks PM- am trying not to make too much of it- but sometimes it is really quite uncomfortable- like a deep aching pulling pain- not sharp and not quite like period pain- lasts 15-20 mins then disappears for a good few hours- worse with tight clothing/ seatbelt/ full bladder/ wind. I know i am extrememy anxious and is not good, but symptoms all worse today- bbs, urine frequency and cramping, dh away in USA on business for a week and no-one to talk to, driving self slowly crazy.......

Hi all,

Just to say that I had this at exactly 6 weeks too and was told by midwife that it is the uterus stretching and completely normal. Lasted a couple of weeks with me.

Take care and hope all goes well. x

Yep! I'm 6 weeks + 3 and still getting the odd period like pain in various places and like you I was so worried that things weren't right. It's so hard to fully understand when it's your first (as it is with mine) what is normal and what isn't. I even went back to the doctor two days after he confirmed it convinced I had an ectopic!

Today I am so bloated I actually look 6 MONTHS not 6 weeks. I am as regular as 'every day' but have only been twice in 6 days and now I have a mix of period cramps and wind!!!

Knicker checking also especially as I often feel damp down there but my body temperature is raised and feeling the heat more as well as the cold. Keep getting a chill. Can't win.

Whoever says they enjoyed their first trimester is very lucky. Can't wait until 24th June when I'm 12 weeks. Hopefully I'll start to feel a bit more normal.
