Im GBS positive but I don't think being allergic to penicillin will cause any problems for you (but check with midwife / doctor). When you are in labour you will be given IV antibiotics.

According to the GBSS website here then:

For women allergic to penicillin: Clindamycin 900 mg intravenously every 8 hours until delivery

The GBSS website is very helpful in giving clear information.
Having GBS +ve test is very common (third of population have it at any time), the danger is in labour to passing it to the baby.

Whilst it is not directly related to your question, another website that gave very useful information on gbs was the homebirth website link here
Hope it helps.

Thank you, I didn't know about the condition until my neighbour told me about her friends child who has cerebral palsey due to it, he is now 18 months old and severely disabled, perfect trouble free pregnancy, full term and then GBS, so sad.
