Hi,
I've taken 2 pregnancy tests today and both positive. I don't know how I'm feeling. My partner is at work and I have told him but now I am sat here just shaking. We have been trying for a couple of months so I am shocked that I am not dancing around the room in euphoria. Please tell me this is normal.

Perfectly normal. A dull, boring wee has just turned into a whole new life and a lifetime of responsibility.

My response to DH when I saw the two lines was 'oh shit, it's positive' Shock Confused and that was planned.

Congratulations, it's scary but ace fun! When the terror wears off, the excitement and sickness usually kicks in Grin

Thank you so much (she types crying onto the keyboard!)

Wine

Oh.

Bugger

Brew Wink

Give it a day or two, honestly, I think the BFP part is the scariest bit!

buttonmoon78 · 15/05/2011 15:17

Good advice. It is scary but pretty soon you'll be over the moon. You're hormonal don't you know - you can experience any emotion you can think of and it'll all be 'normal'! Grin

supadupapupascupa · 15/05/2011 15:21

Congratulations!!!

And in a couple of days you'll be resisting the urge to take another test because you just don't feel pregnant. and so it all begins Grin

Love reading your replies. Am switching between crying and laughter at the moment.....oh dear!

I felt like this at first, I didn't want to let myself believe it just in case things didn't work out (had previously MC). But now at 21 weeks I love feeling the baby move and knowing we're creating a new little family member. It just takes time to sink in! Good luck and congrats!

OppositeOfBlooming · 15/05/2011 15:30

Ah it's normal. Life as you know it has just changed but nothing's changed iyswim. It's bloody terrifying.

Slowly but surely you'll go from utter terror to tentative excitement, coupled with worry, a brief spell of joyful anticipation and then you'll check the calendar and realise that somehow the baby sized baby inside you has to come out of a vagina-sized hole very soon indeed and a whole new terror seizes you.

It all passes and is generally part of the ups and downs of pregnancy. Today's up for me. I'm 22 weeks and my unborn son is squirming around inside me and making my stomach contort into weird shapes that dd finds absolutely hilarious. I'm making a whole little life inside me and I can't wait to meet him. Tomorrow I'll be back to how exactly is he going to come out but for now, I'm smiling.

You'll be just fine. Congratulations.

loobylou13 · 15/05/2011 15:50

Congratulations, im sure that in a few hours you wont be able to stop smiling! Lovely news x

theonlyhb2 · 15/05/2011 16:01

congratulations, I think it took 20 weeks for it to sink in for me and now at 26 weeks I am feeling rather excited about it

BananaMad · 15/05/2011 16:04

Your post sounds VERY familiar, OP :)

We hadn't been trying for long and I burst into tears the second I showed my DH the positive test. I was too busy being terrified and panicking to even think of euphoria at that moment. Once the terror and 'oh my god how will we cope, have we done the right thing?' had passed I was over the moon and am now 21 weeks and enjoying the wriggling going on in my belly.

Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one!

Oh, and congratulations!!!

FloralOne · 15/05/2011 20:17

Congratulations!
I was the same too - thought that i'd be ecstatic as we'd been trying for quite a while - but when I got the positive result I just felt panicky and shocked. It definitely took a few days to sink in. I'm now 39+6 pregnant and can't believe that i'll actually have a baby so soon - so something tells me that this whole process from start to finish is a bit of a mind scrambling one! :)

Tinks30 · 16/05/2011 17:06

Thank you all for your kind and funny words. Feeling much more excited now. I did however take two more tests today and yep...still pregnant!
Doc's tomoz.....eeeeek!!! Makes it all the more real now :o

its so exciting cause you never expect it to say positive!! I did two and the second line was faint so got a digital one couldnt wait till morning so did it at work. When it said pregnant was so shocked and happy and bursting to tell everyone thats the hard bit so just called my husband and told him then spoke to him a hour later and he had told all his family all his friends and his dad had invited all the family round for a special meal lol. x
