Just wondering if its normal to have them at 21 weeks? Been having labour type pains for a few hours, they ar'nt as painful as labour pains but a bit uncomfortable, also have had back ache all day. Is this braxton hicks?

is it your first pregnancy?

I had bh type pains early on with ds (second preg) - occasionally doubled up with pain. But they weren't quite the same as contractions. I think it was that he'd managed to get in a position which triggered a nerve or something (he had rather a lot of room to move!). not sure this is helpful as I never went to the doc about it, but I and ds are fine now!

and backache - oh yes!

hi marne
I have had bh from about 20 wks this time. With ds I had them from 38wks but they were not painful just the tightening this time I get painful bh that can last a couple of hours.

I had BH from 20 weeks, and they just stayed tight until 38 weeks/no pain at all, they gave me my Caesar whe I was getting BH every few minutes(still NO pain really)

Braxton hicks are constantly happening throughout your entire pregnancy, right from the beginning through to the end, its just a case of how early you feel them, its different for everyone.

with my ds I didnt feel bh's at all, but with this pregnancy, Ive felt them since about 18 weeks!
