empty sacs at 8 week scan

I had an early scan on tuesday and all that could be seen was two empty sacs - no fetal pole, no heartbeat. It is 8 weeks since my LMP (pretty sure about dates, but could be off by a week or so) and from the reaction of the sonographer they clearly thought more should be visable. I have been told to come back in one week for a follow up scan to confirm blighted ovum x 2 - it was made very clear that they do not expect a happy outcome. I have no bleeding, cramping or any sign miscarrage however, I stopped feeling nauseus a week or so ago.

This is my third pregnancy. The first resulted in bighted ovum - discovered and confirmed at 12 week scan followed by a D and C within a couple of days. Second resulted in my 14 month old son.

Am totally gutted to think that I am loosing another two babies! Anyone had the same experince, and anyone had a happy outcome?!

Sorry can't help you littleann, but will be thinking of you next week - fingers crossed for a positive outcome. What was the reason for you having an early scan if you don't mind me asking?

Unmumsnetty hugs xx

Can't really help you but just wanted to say Sorry its awful. I was admitted with a ? ectopic at 6 weeks and the heartbeat was clearly visible but there was also a empty sac in my fallopian tube not the side with any pain, they didn't really say much about it apart from it would be monitored throughout my pregnancy.

Early scan was the result of some confusion about dates - Date of LMP indicated 8 weeks, but as I'd got a positive pregnancy test over a week before I was due on the midwife thought I was actually further along and my LMP was infact implantation bleeding.

The scan confirmed the reason for the early positive test was infact that I was carring twins.
