I've just gone to work in odd shoes - tell me I'm not alone in baby brain madness....

They're not close to looking similar. One is brown with a 1.5 inch kitten heel, the other is pink and flat.

They even sound different - the brown one goes 'click' and the pink one goes 'clump'.

How could I walk to my car, drive to the station, board a train and still not notice until a nosey helpful stranger pointed it out?

Tell me I'm not alone....

This thread is hilarious. I've feel like I've done a few of these already but have forgotten! Confused

DH laughs at me cos I can't remember what's happening AT ALL - events in the diary, I just can't keep them in my head. It's never my strong point but now it's really starting to wind him up... (10 weeks pg)

Towards the end of my last pregnancy I was on some medication for high blood pressure that made me very dopey. We went to hospital late one evening after I started feeling funny, and while we were waiting for blood test results I fell asleep on the hospital bed. The doctor came in and I woke up, all groggy. The weird thing was, when she started talking to me, I could understand her but I couldn't say a single thing in reply! It was as though my language faculty had been shut down - I just couldn't find a single word. Admittedly I was trying to speak a foreign language, not English (don't live in the UK), but I even struggled finding words in English. The doctor just looked at me a bit patronisingly, must have thought 'silly foreigner'. But I found it quite scary, gave me an idea how people must feel after brain injuries when they lose the ability to speak.

I've missed a midwife appointment and an MMR appointment for DS because I forgot. Today I went swimming with the pants on my tankini on inside out. I also ran an ad for my new business with a the wrong last digit on the phone number, some poor (and I've just found out, blind) woman in our village had all my calls. This really isn't like me.

Cherrypi · 16/05/2011 19:50

Since I've read this thread I've started to notice how dippy I'm getting. Nothing as amusing yet. Today I forgot all the books for my A2 class at home and drove a very long distance in 4th gear at 60 whoops.

emmanumber3 · 16/05/2011 19:51

TheSecondComing - I'm sorry but that made me laugh out loud Grin.

So completely something I would do - I used to be quite "with it" once upon a time you know...... Hmm.

Mum2be79 · 16/05/2011 19:55

Just driven down a one way street when coming out of work.

Mum2be79 · 16/05/2011 19:55

Obviously the wrong way! See! Even my baby brain madness has affected my ability to post properly.

LionsnTigersnBears · 16/05/2011 23:04

does pregnancy brain ever wear off? mine is 10 months old and I think i still have it!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 16/05/2011 23:18

Nope! you and we are stuck with it! Grin

LionsnTigersnBears · 16/05/2011 23:29

Solo, it is madness, but at least its one of the happy kinds!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 16/05/2011 23:34

Yes, but after 13 several years, it gets on yer nerves a bit Wink

Sibella1 · 17/05/2011 00:05

I forgot about my tummy and burnt it on the kettle while leaning over the counter top to get something from a shelf. Ouch!!! Was immediately worried about the baby until I realized that he / she can probably not feel the burn on my skin!! And that was when I was only about 13 weeks pregnant...

jugglingwiththreeshoes · 17/05/2011 07:17

Oohh, poor you, Sibella Sad

dustythedolphin · 17/05/2011 10:43

Ouch Sibella! That sounds agonising

A friend of mine shut her nipple in the boot of her car when she slammed it shut!

I lost my purse for several days and then found it, nicely chilled, in the fridge.

I always know when I am PG, because all of a sudden I cannot remember any of my pin numbers

Xiaoxiong · 17/05/2011 10:52

I always thought this was a myth that would never affect me. BUT! my boss just called me in and asked (very nicely) if everything was ok, because over the past few months he and the other person I work for have felt that I wasn't really "keeping on top of things" and they were worried that things kept slipping my mind and they had to keep reminding me and it wasn't like me at all. He gave me a full demonstration of how he works with to-do lists, uses his commute to prioritise, etc and was doing the whole "let me impart my experience and wisdom to help you progress in your career".

I blurted out "actually, thanks for all that but it's actually because I'm three months pregnant and it's all I can think about and I was going to tell you soon but I've been so worried about miscarrying so I was going to wait until it was obvious!!"

He was a bit taken aback, and then grinned and said "congratulations, I guess a new to-do system won't make a blind bit of difference then!" and told me some quite funny stories about his wife being forgetful when she was pregnant with their kids.

BlueCrane · 17/05/2011 10:55

tyelperion that's exactly why I ended up telling my boss at 7 weeks as my brain felt so like mush and I was scared of making a silly mistake and them thinking I was losing the plot! Glad they were understanding!

girlfromdownsouth · 17/05/2011 13:07

Today I designed my entire outfit around a great pair of "statement earrings" (coz hell at 32wks a gals gotta do something to look good) only to get to work to realise said earrings were still on my dressing table!!

ThistleDoNicely · 17/05/2011 15:29

I tried to park at the supermarket the other week but realised the space was too tight and i wasn't going to be able to heave myself out (i was 36wks) so moved the car. Did my shopping and was waddling out when a man pointed at me shouting 'that's her!". Turns out I had hit the other car (a mercedes, oops!) making a big groove up two door panels and someone had seen the whole thing and thought I was doing a runner Blush.

I also walk into stuff all the time. Can't get used to the ever growing bump (38wks now so that shouldn't be a problem for too much longer) and bash it off stuff all the time, mostly my husband actually lol

SoloIsAHotCougar · 17/05/2011 15:35

:( Thistle, how annoying...bet you felt terrible too!
