Sore hips

Another symptom check...!

I've had sore hips for the last 3-4 days. Am 11+4, and my hips feel like they have been kicked or like I have really banged into something - I haven't, and it is worse towards the end of the day. It isn't excruciating or even particularly painful but definitely quite sore!

Has anyone else experienced this or any ideas?

Not experienced exactly the same, in fact mine tend to be agonising in the mornings! My midwife thinks it's either from sleeping in awkward postions now my bump is starting to become obvious or a UTI which I'm being treated for.

Mention it to your midwife/dr as it could be the start of SPD and either way, they'll want to monitor it and give you a bit more support.

ah thanks - yes my bump is starting to show a bit so wondered if it might be time to get a support pillow if hips are aching! Will take your advice and speak to midwife about it next time i see her

yes I got very sore hips - it could be to do with relaxin, the hormone that gets released when you're pregnant - it makes your pelvis and joints relax in preparation for labour but also makes your hips/legs sore. The MW might get you off to a psysiotherapist who can help you figure out ways of moving around to avoid putting pressure on your hips. There's exercises you can do too that help.

Mine feel like I've been on a long flight and I've been sat down all day... just achey.
Sometimes a bath helps. Otherwise just try and be aware of your posture. keep your hips aligned and don't cross your legs.

At your stage I had very painful hips, felt like they were collapsing outwards and I was falling through the middle! Saw a physio and she thought it was caused by loosening ligaments. Some strengening exercises helped as did yoga. Ask your MW for a physio referral.
