Hi tiggersreturn
I too am Type I diabetic.

I'm 39 and pregnant with my first baby and currently 26 wks. I found the first trimester easier controlling sugars, and since approx 23-24 wks it's turned into a bit of a mare !! Since then, I've literally had to double my insulin intake which at times has felt quite daunting and scary and my sugars seem to be a bit all over the place,

How are you getting on ? I hope you are getting lots of support from your diabetes team - mine have been absolutely amazing. Let me know how you're doing - I wish there was a local support group for pregnant diabetics at my hosp. as it would be really reasurrign to know how others are doing. x

Hi Joey

I'm 31 (had type 1 for 28 years) and this is my 3rd pg (1 ds aged 4, 1 mc) and I'm expecting twins..... which makes everything a bit harder to manage. My sugars have been a lot more up and down this time, partly from the twins
and partly emotional stress from family probs but seem to be going ok now.

Diabetes team are fine and if I get worried will see me more often. They are combined with the obs team so I get both done at once. I always wanted to meet other pg diabetics the last time but even in a supposedly specialist London hospital the majority of the clinic seemed to be made up of women with GD.

What hospital are you at? I'm at St Mary's.

I'm happy to start a support group here.

I am 33 and have had type 1 for 15 years. I am 30 weeks into my first pregnancy and get seen fortnightly at combined clinic, plus can call/email nurse any time - she calls once a week. I think the level of care is excellent. Will be starting weekly appts from 32 and will be induced at 38.

Like Joey, I have found it harder work to keep my suagrs tight recently - need more insulin every day However I had my first growth scan at 28 weeks and everything was good, which was encouraging.
