How will I know if I've had a show after a stretch and sweep

I'm currently 40+1 and had mw gave me a stretch and sweep yesterday. She said that I was 1-2 cm dilated and that I had had a little bloody show when she performed the procedure. I have had a tiny bit of bleeding since, not v. much, just a bit of browny blood really, although it did seem thicker, but it may be just that it wasn't fresh blood. How will I know if I have more of a show?

The bleeding has now stopped, but nothing since. The baby was very active last night, but no sign of anything else happening. I'm just on the lookout for anything signs that might mean things are about to kick off. Getting very impatient now, and really hope I don't have to wait too much longer! Hmm

IIRC a show is quite jelly like and can be tinged with pink / red blood, if its not jelly like and its just blood it might just be some irritation to the cervix from the sweep. In anycase I wouldn't worry too much about a show or not, not everyone notices them before labour and you will know when you're in labour!

Good luck!! I am very excited for you and your amazing journey ahead. Smile

FWIW I had a sweep on sat morning, had some show sat eve and then waters broke on sunday morning and DS was born on Monday morning but that was my second sweep at 40+7 - nothing happened after the first one at 40w

I think you'll spot it if you see it - its rather like jelly like snot with pinky bits in!

Oh the joys of pregnancy - can't believe I am putting myself through it all again! Grin!

Cheers, I wasn't sure if the sweep might intefere with what it looked like, but it appears not. Ah well, I shall keep looking out for it, and any other signs. They'll try again next week if no joy. Here's hoping for some action sooner rather than later! Smile
