now 37 and a bit weeks with 2nd baby. Wiped earlier and there isn't much but it's ever so slightly pink or brown tinged. I mean really slightly. IS this a show and if it is, how long before things get going? Please don't say it'll be today, it's mum's birthday today and we're going out to eat later!

It sounds like a show. I was on 48 hours later.
It varies hugely according to people.

Sounds like a show... I had mine in the morning and had first contractions that night and delivered DD the following day.
Good luck!

Does sound like that start of your show, but really it means nothing. You can get it 2 weeks or more before you go into labour

I wouldn't worry too much about getting to the meal later, I think you'll be fine

I've had the same thing am 39+1. My 'show' lasted Tuesday and Yesterday. I was up till 3am this morning having what i think were braxton Hicks around 6-8 an hour. Woke up this morning and it's all stopped for now. My stomach really hurts underneath from contracting. I got all excited but annoyed now it's stopped! I'll just keep waiting. Gook luck!

Mine was on the evening of the Royal Wedding... and I'm still waiting for anything else to happen! Saw midwife the following Monday, and she said having a show might not necessarily mean anything?!

NorkilyChallenged · 12/05/2011 09:33

With my first, I had a show on the Saturday and DC1 wasn't born til the Wednesday, think it can easily be up to a week so don't go changing plans yet.

But maybe make sure you've packed your hospital bag Wink

RhiRhi123 · 12/05/2011 09:39

I've been frantically googling first signs of labour and it said that a show can be up to 2 weeks before labour starts. Just keep an eye out for any other pains or symptoms or obviously ur waters breaking.

pinkgirlythoughts · 12/05/2011 10:08

If it's up to 2 weeks, does that mean I'm likely to go into labour within the next day or so, since my show will have been two weeks ago tomorrow? I've been having a lot of braxton hicks and period pains ever since, but they seem to have slowed down a bit today Hmm

So, could be ages yet? Hope nothing kicks off til at least Sunday night as then I'll have nursery for DS to go to and might be able to have DH with me in hospital for at least some of the time, otherwise it's me on my todd and DH looking after DS (no other childcare).
It really is very slight, does that mean it might be a long time because very little is coming away? It's just like normal discharge in small quantities but twinged very very faintly pink.
I've phoned mw and left a message but she hasn't got back to me, hence asking the lovely ladies of MN.

Hi, I had a show on Easter Monday (I am now only 32 weeks) I called the labour ward as worried with it being so early (plus few other issues) and she said not to worry it didn't mean I was going to give birth soon as it could re-form.

With my first I had a show about a week before I gave birth

Hopefully your little one can hang on in there until you are all prepared! Good luck

pipoca · 12/05/2011 21:47

Have had bag packed since about 28 weeks as DS was born at 36 weeks and I didn't have my bag done, cue telling DH what to grab between contractions (v fast labour).
Been to the loo again and it's less pinky than it was so think this time might be more of a slow burn. Getting quite a lot of BHs and feel permanently like I really need a wee, but nothing else so far. Hoping nothing happens til Sunday as will make childcare for DS much easier.

I had my show at 39/40 but only gave birth at 40+10 so could be some time.
