Had to share this... I'm 15 weeks (due date is Halloween which is amusing in itself... dd says that middle name for this one should be 'Dracula' if it arrives on time!)

Anyway, I've been exceptionally lucky so far - no real sickness, aches or pains or anything like that... except that this morning I've woken up very lopsided - right boob is literally double the size of the left one. I did put on a striped top at first this morning until I looked in the mirror and realised just how much more obvious it made it!

I'm not worried - I know that it's all normal and they should even up a bit (hopefully quite soon - I'm going to have to go out in public at some point and if the right one keeps going at this rate then I'm going to need some sort of scaffolding on that side)... I'm just smiling at the state of myself and thought that I might be able to give some of you a laugh too.

Is it normal? I am 52 and have had 3 babies but never come across your problem.
Should you get the Doctor to look at your breasts?
Anyway I am not laughing.....
I hope your preg runs smoothly and your boobs are ok.
xxx

Sorry but I did laugh out loud! Can't be very funny for you though! Grin
Would definitely get your breasts checked just to be on the safe side, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. x

Thanks for the response and concern jellyvodkas.

It's been a while since the last time, but I seem to remember going very 'chesty' very suddenly during my first pregnancy - they just both grew at roughly the same rate. No pain or discomfort, so don't think that I need to get myself checked just yet - would obviously do so if anything worried me, but I suspect that it's just pregnancy having a bit of a joke with me as it has let me off so lightly so far.

Apparently (if you believe old wives tales which are all obviously 100% accurate and true) this can be a way of determining the sex of the baby - a bigger right breast means it's a boy so I'm told!

Grin never heard that before but I will now have to check things in a mirror!!!x

Ernie1 · 11/05/2011 13:54

HI Sanity - I had a similar thing, not perhaps as obviously as yours but I did find for a few days one was bigger than the other... DH disagreed with me but I know they were wonky.

First I'd heard of the old wives tale though, would be interesting if I could remember which one it was!

FWIW mine has settled back to a matching (albeit larger) pair now so there is hope for your yet.

sanityawol · 11/05/2011 13:58

Grin it's in the 'Pregnancy for Men' book that I got for dh... I should add that it's not given as a reliable indicator!

Glad it made you laugh btw Renaissance. Thankfully I'm not too self conscious and it's a bit cooler so I can hide under a big jumper today!

well, thank god someone elses breasts have just gone crazy! Someoe actually pointed out how much bigger my left was than my right. It was always a bit bigger, but now, a lot bigger, and my areola has doubled in size, and my nipples are practically black.

everyone has a bigger breast, and it does tend to be the left (there is a medical reason for this, it was on Embarrassing Bodies!)

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 11/05/2011 15:21

phew, not just me!
my right one has always been fractionally bigger, but seems to have a double whammy growth spurt since I got pregnant. To the point when I was almost a different cup size when I tried to get measured the other day. I think they're evening out again now, but I didn't half feel like a freak in the John Lewis changing room!

Am only 12 weeks and nipples are the size of saucers. Freaky freaky stuff.

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 11/05/2011 19:24

You Are Not Alone Grin my left is about an inch bigger (lower) than my right at 17 weeks! Definitely feels heavier too... I shall have to be careful of stripey tops, hadn't thought about that! Grin

sanityawol · 11/05/2011 21:10

I think that it was that it seemed to happen overnight that amused me most... wonder what I'll wake up to tomorrow!

Did the other side grow sanity? Grin

lolajane2009 · 12/05/2011 10:36

mine have always been lopsided with my right bigger and as they have got bigger it has become more obvious

missnevermind · 12/05/2011 10:49

Lola are you left handed?

lolajane2009 · 12/05/2011 11:01

right handed

Labella77 · 12/05/2011 13:45

my belly button has veered about 15cm off centre to the right. It's a bizarre old business this pregnancy malarkey.

belgo · 12/05/2011 13:47

Sanityawol- that happened to me in my first pregnancy, one breast decided to get bigger, and then a couple of weeks later the other side did the same. I was about 20-22 weeks.

babycarmen · 12/05/2011 14:27

Just have to say - My daughter was born on halloween 07!! And believe me - she lives up to being a "little devil" hehe :D
