I asked the same question a while back and got some fantastic lists from fellow MNers. If you search for 'Hospital Bag' under Pregnancy you'll find those lists. There were many replies and one particular MNer had the mother of all lists -it was super!

pillows - DH was glad of them when he had to sleep on the floor
