Can I use a stethascope like a doppler, have been given one but can't hear anything. Am trying not to worry as I know even dopplers can be tricky but has anyone else tried it? Where do I put it - below belly button?

I wouldn't have thought so, my doppler never works without the gel stuff on it even at 25 weeks.

How far along are you?

I can say for certain, but whenever I have seen a doctor during pregnancy they use the same method to hear heartbeat as the midwife they have never even tried with a stethascope.

Am 20+3 and got told that a cardboard tube works so thought a stethascope might, will try it with some gel maybe. Thought if it worked then kids in class could have a listen as they are all very excited but I have resisted buying a doppler.

I'm sure on one of these pregnancy-calendar sites one of my recent emails said baby's is now big enough for the hb to be heard on a stethoscope? I'm 23+1 now, and it was a couple of weeks ago I got the email I think :)
