Fear of going over due

My other 2 were due date so I have no reason to think this one will go over and yet I am really worried about it. It's not so much for myself and how I'll cope but in my head I have a list of bad things that are more likely to happen if I go over due and the possibility of losing the baby. I know I am being silly about it and yet I can't shift it!

Those of you who went over, tell me I'm worrying over nothing!

It's not nothing, but it's not that much either, IYSWIM.

You have to remember that a due date is still estimated. Depending on the length of your cycle and your actual date of conception, etc etc. your date can easily be set a couple of weeks out. So, from what I understand, your baby might come at 40+14 (or maybe more!) and still be perfectly brewed.

I went a couple of days over, and a very close friend went 17 days over and our babies looked about in the same state when they emerged!

was going to post what MrsNoggin said. a due date or expected date is JUST an estimate of roughly when your baby will be born. so going over that does not mean baby is "late"

term is considered as 37-42 weeks... because women DO vary in how long they "cook" their babies for

i think only something like 5% of babies are actually born on a due date so please try not to worry.

knackered I'm in the same boat - due on Thursday but already worrying about going over as have had no signs that she's on her way at all.
Couldn't bear it if anything awful happened at this late stage, so just want things to begin!

The funny thing is I know lots of people who have been overdue and not one bad thing has happened to their babies so not sure why I think it's bound to happen to me!

Your right, the due date is only a guesstimate . . . . now to work on being calm about it :)

Sending you 'come out now baby' vibes tigerbear Grin
