Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

sorry, my punctuation went a bit wonky in that last post...

Rollersara · 19/07/2011 17:28

I'm a bit worried about that scan - I don't have one until 9 August, by which time I'll be over 12 weeks, if it takes 2 weeks for the results to come back that seems like a long time to me...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 20/07/2011 08:22

lol - Ghost that's exactly my outlook.

I got my nuchal test results back pretty promptly - 1 in 3700 I think. You can always do as Ghost did and follow it up by phone Sara, sounds like they'll be helpful.

I've already started going to mother and baby groups - I'm generally the only pregnant woman there, even if they are called tums and tots or bumps and bundles (or whatever), but the women are nice, useful sources of information and I've even made a work contact! It's useful being self-employed sometimes, although I'd probably have enough money to do hypnobirthing and NCT classes if I had a 'proper' job! lol

Met someone yesterday who'd done hypnobirthing and done it with the same woman I'm going to. She was really enthusiastic and positive about her experience, so it's reinforced my thinking. I'm very suggestible - if someone can hypnotise me to think it won;t hurt then I am very confident I'll believe them! :-)

Oof - so tired today. Am very glad to be entirely without nausea now (I can even cook and then enjoy eating the results!) but do wish the tiredness wasn't so extreme. I feel like I've been run over by a train sleep just doesn't seem to be doing the job. Gah. Time for a cup of tea and some work.

Sara I ended up being 12+5 when I had the scan, and according to the JR I should have had my letter by the time I was 13+1, it's just that the letter went missing. Am sure you could phone them up within a week (in fact, if you're at the JR, here's the number for the person who discusses scan results - not the unit proper: 01865 221087)

Funnily enough I've also found that as the nausea has started to subside I've been much more tired. I'm hoping it's an early second trimester thing (which, by the way, YEY for second trimester!).

Am going punting today for a work outing (yes, we work reeeeally hard in the summer) - please keep fx that we stay dry in Oxford this afternoon!

Rollersara · 20/07/2011 09:44

Thanks both, that's reassuring.

Have taken the day off today as tiredness was getting a bit too much (and e thankfully have lots of flexi I can take at short notice!). Hoping the second trimester will be a bit less exhausting! The weekend will be hard - I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and don't want to tell people I'm pg yet, but not drinking and very unlikely to stay at the reception past 8pm!

Haven't found NCT classes near me yet, that's one thing I can do today if not sleeping all day!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 20/07/2011 13:30

I've been really chilly today - hot water bottle and duvet chilly.
Am determined to do another 1000 words on the novel today. It's been taking a backseat to cleaning (landlord's 6 month inspection) and paid work (bah) but if I finish it and get it published it would earn us far more money

Anyone want a slice of chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream? I've been living up to my name... The cake is nice and moist, but I don;t like the ratio of butter to sugar in the icing. I think it needs more butter.

Good luck with the NCT classes. I would like to have done them for the social aspect, but had to make the choice, ultimately. Finances are bad and just had a horrible convo with DH on the phone about money. If I wasn't so tired and hadn;t already made two I'd be baking a cake around about now.

cakes it has definitely been colder for the last couple of days. A friend of mine had a baby a couple of years ago in December and my friend was freezing for the first month or so because she was so used to the bump heating her up! We went to visit when the little one was a couple of days old and the house was at something like 25 degrees [sweats]

YES to the cake. Yes to all cake. My oven is broken so I haven't been able to bake for weeks and weeks. Only two more to go before the new kitchen goes in, yeys!

Sorry to hear about the finances and fx something comes through for you. By the way, there is an NCT nearly new sale in Oxford on Oct 1st - maybe you could plan to pick things up there? I will be going along. But I may have to fight you for the good stuff Wink

Finally, I am wearing my bump band to the office today as I really wanted to wear a pair of trousers but don't have a single pair I can get into! Must invest in some maternity trousers for work, but have run out of money this month as we're going on holiday next week (UK based) and it's DH's birthday the day we get back.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 21/07/2011 13:37

There's a nearly new sale here (Wallingford) in Oct too, so we can each go for it, no holds barred!

One of the women at my bumps and babies groupd has offered me some of her old matrnity gear (yay), so that'll be a real help if they fit :-)

Had a massage today which was lovely (cost fiver - couldn't say no!) but am now even more tired and sleepy than usual! Nap time... ;-)

Rollersara · 21/07/2011 19:45

I have just had a delivery from the Next half price sale, got most of maternity clothes! It feels a bit early but so much cheaper!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 21/07/2011 20:46

Very exciting! :-)

I might be getting some hand-me-down maternity clothes next week, which would help with finances. I'd rather not spend money on clothes for me if I don't have to at the moment.

Hey ladies, just checking in to say I'll be on holiday from tomorrow and will be trying to keep away from the internets to give my brain a break!

Other than that, it's a great day at work so far - last day before a week off, and just had a huge deal come through which is bigger than any single deal we had last year and has beaten my previous highest deal by 100%! Hopefully will get some kudos from colleagues (and I'm a little bit type A these days so these things make me happy) and leave for hols with a big grin on my face Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/07/2011 12:44

yay - great news Ghost :-) Enjoy your well deserved holiday, have fun with DH and bump (it can hear outside your tummy now, you know?!) and we'll see you back before you know it :-)

I'm off to the in-laws for the weekend. Not as much fun, but will keep me off the web till Monday probably. See the rest of you ladies then :-)

knock knock - anyone there? Everyone OK?

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 01/08/2011 16:43

Yes, still here, but meltingggggggg in the heat now I'm back at the office, so am a bit crabby today. We need a push for new members so that we can have a meet up at some point!

anyone else still around? if so please get posting so we can be visible to more people Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 01/08/2011 18:54

God, tell me about it. I'm sitting here with the spray bottle I use for my ironing and giving myself a spritz every few minutes. Suspect DH thinks I've gone potty.

Am very grateful to the lovely lady who offered me a bundle of maternity clothes on Freecycle. I picked them up today and included were 2 vest tops from JoJo Maman Bebe with built-in support - have never been so thankful not to have to wear a bra! Hurrah! Even better the tops definitely make me look pregnant rather than fat, a fact which I am very pleased about.

Now, do we need to get out the pompoms and attract some more Oxfordshire mummies to be?

Dozeyland · 02/08/2011 08:47

Hi all, oxford lady hoping to be in this thread over the next few months :-)

Congratulations to you all

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/08/2011 09:01

Hi there Dozey - when are you due?

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 02/08/2011 09:24

cakes I have just found a fan in the cellar so am enjoying a tepid breeze in my office this morning - it is, at least, a little more tolerable. And the fan plus some music helps to disguise the noise of the building site that is currently behind our building. All's fine until they start working on our building in a few weeks Wink

Am envious of the freecycle clothes! I should have a look on my local site. Only a few of my dresses fit now, so I definitely need some more work clothes. It's hard to imagine what I'll need in winter when it's so hot at the moment though!

Dozey welcome to the list! Are you TTC? Exciting!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/08/2011 13:24

Got some more maternity gear today from one of the mums at my bumps and babies group - now I have some jeans and a long-sleeved top as well as all the bits I got from Freecycle! Am pretty well set up except for a winter coat, but yes, it seems absurd to be thinking about such things in this ridiculous heat, plus none of the shops have anything wintery in yet.

Ooh - my experimental seasonal muffins are done. Do you think apple and blackberry muffins would work? Guess we'll find out soon enough! :-)

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 02/08/2011 13:53

oh yum! yes to apple and blackberry muffins. Nom. With sour cream?

Rollersara · 02/08/2011 18:43

Hello all :)

I have been wondering about winter coats too, most of the stuff I have is summery! Might be trawling the charity shops a bit later in the year... Might try freecycle too, hadn't thought of that!

ghosteditor · 03/08/2011 09:44

Hi Sara ! I'm hoping my lovely new blue winter coat will sort of stretch around the bump - it's sort of empire line as coats go so I might get lucky. But it's a big expense! One thing that I noticed when my friend's baby was very young (a December baby) was that they took her out in the sling a lot, and her mum just used to zip her up under the coat - if that's the case then maybe a big winter coat might be a worthwhile investment!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 03/08/2011 09:49

My mum has a big swing coat that I found in a charity shop. It's a bit 'nice' for every day (back and from Jigsaw) but it has an enormous amount of fabric in it and it's wool, so it would definitely keep me and a bump warm! Not sure how I'd do i up, though, it doesn;t have a fastening. Oh well, maybe a charity shop will prove lucky again!

Saw my mum yesterday and she was surprised by my bump which has suddenly materialised since I saw her last! Am dying to meet up with you now, Ghost, so we can compare bumps! :-)

Also... I got a little bit of spotting last night. Do you think that's OK or should I call my Midwife and check?

x

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 03/08/2011 09:58

That sounds great! Maybe you could find some sort of belt that would sort of fasten it?

My bump is frickin huge! I mean, given that some people aren't even remotely showing at this stage. Of course, I went out for a fancy meal last night and ended up having the seven course taster menu (DH's birthday present) so there's more food-bump than baby-bump right now!

As for the spotting - am sure it's fine, but you might be best to check in with the midwife, especially if you haven't had it before or not for a while. Mostly on the grounds that it can't hurt to check but it could hurt to wait, if you see what I mean...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 03/08/2011 10:15

Yeah, maybe you're right. I just don;t want to turn into one of those hysterical women who calls for every little thing, you know?

I have quite a bit of food bump on top of baby bump, but it's mostly baby I think :-) I think i felt a movement the other day, but not sure. Could have been stomach gurgling. Am on the lookout now, anyway. Next Midwife appt is Monday - do you have yours soon too Ghost?
