Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

MakesCakesWhenStressed - expecting #1 EDD 10 Jan 2012

Rollersara: I'm doing NCT in wallingford too I think - in November. I might see you there?

Makescakes: it'd be great to get details of the mums-and-dads-to-be group in Wallingford, thanks!

I'd definitely be up for meeting in Didcot. I live a 3 min walk from sainsburys and not far from tesco so anywhere would be fine for me. I'm still camping (with v intermittent signal) so I can't check free dates yet, but I'm back next week so I'll have a look. :)

Places in Oxford that are close to parking are the Cowley rd area - there's a car park at clements car park and loads of nice places near there. Sara - I'm not sure exactly how close they are to the car park, maybe a 3-5 min walk. Is that too far?

Moobee · 05/08/2011 19:16

There's also a car park in oxford quite near the station. The station one obviously, but also one up near richer sounds that I use quite a lot (park end street?) I'll check the 18th sept when I get home, I think it's free.

Rollersara · 06/08/2011 04:15

Sept 18 should be good for me too!

moobee, I'm not doing my NCT till January, hope the baby doesn't come early!

I can't manage 3-5 minutes walking easily any more, but can if the place is wheelchair accessible, which I can check (Cafe Coco is fine).

Also for moobee, how are you getting on camping? I'm going at the end of August, am a bit worried about needing the loo all night and other pg side effects!

Moobee · 06/08/2011 13:12

rollersara I'll let you know how the NCT course goes.

Camping has been ok, but sleeping on an airbed has increased my sciatica. getting up for the loo in the night is also a major pain. I was semi-joking to my husband about getting a chamberpot, but having a loo closer at 3am when it's raining would have been nice! Camping is great fun though! Make sure you have good camping tables so you're not bending all the time.

makescakes Stockholm is wonderful, have you been before?

Rollersara · 07/08/2011 08:44

Thanks moobee, handy tips :)

Dozeyland · 08/08/2011 10:26

Ghosteditor and cakes I am 22, have a darling 9mo daughter. And
Dp & I would love another next year (which means falling pregnant either this year or next!)
I'm not on the pill, still breastfeeding dd so if I do happen to fall pregnant, then it will be lovely.

Just reading this thread makes me all gooey, I was the same when carrying my girl. I absolutely loved being pregnant,
And quite luckily had a great labour. And went on to have the most happiest baby! So much that we want another,

We're both keen on having a big family, dp is 4yrs older

Congrats to all, and embrace :)

Hi there, I'm moving to Benson in September (20th) so I'm really pleased there seem to be quite a few people near Wallingford (initial impression- I skim-read the last two pages!) ...I'll know noone and am due on 5th Nov, so it would be really good if I could join in with your meeting up?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 08/08/2011 22:25

Hi whizzy. Loads of mum and baby groups in wallingford and an excellent maternity unit so you'll be fine! Pm me for more info if you want as i'm the most local to benson.

Rollersara · 09/08/2011 18:55

Hello :)

Just back from the scan, very excited to see wriggly little baby!

Now 13+4!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 09/08/2011 19:08

Yay - it's a great feeling, isn;t it?! I had the biggest smile for days.

So are you due early Feb then?

OP posts:
Rollersara · 09/08/2011 21:03

Due 10 Feb now!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/08/2011 07:15

Well now, that's my daddy's birthday :-) I'm expecting mine on my FiL's birthday. 4% chance it'll actually happen I guess!

hey ladies! Celebrate with me: I've just finished my antibiotics from foot of doom so no longer have to worry about taking them on an empty stomach (an empty stomach is hard to achieve when feeling this hungry, but the instructions were v. clear I had to have a rumbly tum).

YEY!

Moobee · 10/08/2011 17:40

That's good news Ghost! Is foot of doom completely better now?

Welcome whizzy!

Congratulations on your scan, rollersara, that's very exciting. :)

Hey, you ladies probably have this in your blue notes (mine is an insert about antenatal classes in Didcot) but there's a class with a physiotherapist at the John Radcliffe hospital for mid pregnancy (18-25 weeks). There's a class scheduled for the second week of September. Currently I'm the only person registered and they may cancel if there's only one or two people booked. They advise on posture and also some advice for during labour, so it sounds really useful. If you don't have the details and you're in the JR catchment area, let me know and I can PM you.

By the way, September 18th looks good for me!

Hello dozeyland it's nice to hear from someone who's been through it (and had a good labour).

ghosteditor · 10/08/2011 18:06

yes, soooo much better, not swollen at all now thanks! What a relief.

I'd love to hear about the physio classes and would be keen to sign up for the September one - PM me? Haven't seen the insert in my blue notes but then I haven't exactly scrutinised them yet - saving that for a rainy day Grin

Moobee · 11/08/2011 12:39

Glad your foot is better. I've sent those details through.

ghosteditor · 11/08/2011 15:46

Thanks moobee, am now signed up!

cakes - I'm going to be getting my new oven this weekend and will have a functional oven for the first time in months! And to top it all off it won't leak all the heat out into the kitchen causing undercooked cakes Grin

So what should I bake first?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/08/2011 16:57

Brownies! Always!

Want my super secret special recipe? ;-)

ghosteditor · 11/08/2011 22:55

Yes! Does it involved cherries? DH's fave!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/08/2011 07:16

No, no cherries... Walnuts. Will PM later :-)

Rollersara · 12/08/2011 18:25

I've never got the hang of cakes. Lasagne, fine, cakes, no idea. Maybe this is a good time to learn, I'm not dieting for the next, oo, year?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/08/2011 11:38

Cakes are easy peasy.

1 egg to every 2 oz of everything else (fat, flour, sugar).

Use electric egg beaters, cream butter or marge and sugar, add eggs, add flour, add flavour, bake.

I can knock up a cake whilst asleep :-)

Plus the raw cake mix is delish
