I'm 37, and a test this morning showed positive..making me 4 weeks pregnant...I already have 10yr, 8 yr and 1 yr old...and hubby who deffo wanted no more!! No 3 was a drunken night out (although very much wanted by me!), and this one was a one off spur of the moment...twice unprotected in 3 years...and twice pregnant!! Am very stressed, but not as much as hubby! We adore all 3 that we have, but know that it's hard work giving them all your time and attention...and it feels like no 4. will only make things harder...does anyone else have 4, and manage to still go on nice holidays (my hubby's biggest concern??!), enjoy time with all 4 children, and cope??!! uberfertilechick

I don't have 4, but I am one of four. We were 2, 4 and 2 years apart.
We went on holiday quite a lot actually. Mostly to Italy, which was drivable, rather than flying.
Hope this helps you

Hi
I have 4 and now pregnant with no. 5. I had to encourage the older ones to help. I struggled supporting the older ones with their homework for a while and we forgot a few things as I was very tiered as I had very little help. It didn't stop us going abroad though. We took all 4 to usa to Disney twice. We split the 4 between 2 of us and hired a villa with a pool. We recently got a bigger car which is lucky. The one thing I struggle with is the washing now, I never get everything done now. I am also super fertile or is dh is I am not sure as I am 38. It will be fine what we found that we can buy food in bulk and other things to. Sometimes going out for McDonalds isn't as often as we used to but thats better for us.

Thanks Poppysmum...I think we need to just get our heads around the idea...no. 3 was a surprise...this one is a shock...for both of us...although we know you can never be 100% safe, I thought I was 99%...should have listened better in sex ed! I guess it's the whole getting your head around the idea of the holiday things, and accepting we'll just have to change where we go...we usually go all inclusive in four4 star hotels! Not many take 4 children in a room! Plus of course there's the extra expense...and the change of vehicle....versus our 3rd having a playmate when he's a bit older, and our second not being the middle child (although I think because at the moment she's the only girl that isn't really an issue)....I don't know...it's all just so mind boggling...

Thanks for replying Nanny01 - good luck with number 5...makes my dilemna seem a little less of an issue...my hubby is booking the old snip asap! My two older ones are good little helpers, but I don't want to have to depend on them..they still have a life, and fun to be had....I was an only child so coming from a very different background...hence why I wanted more than one...didn't bargain on 4 though! I know what you mean about washing...but I think you have to back down a little when you have more, and accept that every item of clothing does not need to be ironed...at the mo I iron everything, but something would have to give...I think deep down my mind is made up, and I can see me in a couple of years with a couple of small children, and 2 teenagers...I guess I just need reassurance that there are other people out there doing it, and life doesn't have to end!
What car would people recommend then...I have an x-trail at the mo, with all the gadgets (been spoilt!)...must haves are leather seats, isofix, minimum 7 seats, air con, cruise control, and look nice!!..have looked at vw caravelle and tourans...anyone got any opinions about cars??

Congrats! I'm ONLY on pg 3 (not exactly planned but very wanted by me)I don't have much experience form a parent's persepctive. I do from a offspring one though.

I'm sure it'll work out for you. My brother and I were 10 and 8 when our sister appeared and although we never felt taken advantage off, we did help (and loved it) . (I realise that you also have a one year old) Having a gang of us really felt brill when I was at home with my family. I think the preschooler/ teenager combo is so fab, I'm going it for myself now.

All the best!

Me too. 13, 11, 4 and 28wks now.

I can't wait. The others are all excited esp the eldest. I think I'll need to remind her that the baby is mine! Wink

We have a grand piccasso at the moment there is a spare seat till January LOL Our youngest 4 yrs old is in a high back booster and the other kids are around him. The space in the rear seats is tight for the older kids but all the seats move independently in the middle row so I move them in to create more space in the back row. When my little man is out of the seat the smaller kids will be in the rear seats and the bigger ones will have the middle seats.

I wouldn't feel bad getting the kids to help more I do feel that it gets harder as they get older if they don't. Mine get simple reward like stickers for their albums.

You will be fine and I take comfort that in my old age I will not be alone. I am also an only child so now really wish I had siblings to support me.
