anyone had a scan at 4 weeks??

Hi everyone,

I had a scan today and i am only 4+2 days i think there around.

I had the scan as they thought maybe cause of funny periods etc i could of been pregnant from the previous month .. i knew i wasn't but went along anyway.

Anyway they couldnt see anything on the scan at all .. is this normal .. i have googles it and soem people said they saw a sac atleast.

I was told it's normal but i don't know if they were just trying not to freak me out.

they have taken blood etc and im sitting waiting for them to call

has anyone ever had a scan then???

Yep, perfectly normal!
Bloods and a home preg test will confirm that you are pregnant, but absolutely nothing will show up till about 6 weeks.

Presumably you have done a home test?

I had one at 4 weeks can't remember days though sorry. There was a sac on mine.
But had to have an internal one.
Mine was done as they thought pain I was having indicated possible ectopic, so they weren't really expecting to see much they just wanted to make sure there were signs in the right place.

Yes i also had an intenal one .. yes had loads of positive tests

Completely normal. I had a few early scans, nothing was visible until around 6 weeks. As we were unsure of dates the consultant was worried about ectopic but all was fine, just too early to see anything, am now 30 weeks.

It's completely normal. I had an early scan at what should have been 5+4 by my LMP, although it was actually 6+2 as my dates were later changed and the 6+2 date fits better with when I got my BFP/though I concieved too.

They did warn me before they did the scan, which was internal, that they may not see anything at all and not to worry if they couldn't, it was perfectly normal at that stage. There was a gest. sac there, but nothing else and they dated me at 4+5 by that scan. I couldn't have been 4+5 because of when I got my BFP.

I was very worried as I had had an early miscarriage the pregnancy before this one, but at my next scan a week later there was a heartbeat and I am now at 32 weeks.

Honestly, if you spoke to 100 women and asked them if they saw anything on internal scan at 4 weeks, i would put my chocolate stash on the fact that 97 of those women would say NO i saw nothing.

I have had lots of internal scans and on every one of them, nothing was seen till 6 weeks.

It doesnt mean that there is anything wrong at all, your little baby is just so so dinky at the moment.....patience (she said...i know its agony!!)

Katy don't worry, everyone progresses differently in those early days.

I had a scan at 4 weeks 5 days which was not for pregnancy....it was part of my investigation as to why I wasnt falling pregnant! I had a corpus something or other which basically meant I had ovulated but it was too soon to see whether that egg would stick and become a baby.

It did and I am now 30 weeks pregnant! Was really shocked scared and pleased that had finally fallen pregnant after trouble but during my investigations! Don't panic so early on the stress is not good for you wait and see what the bloods say and see if you canget another scan booked in.

Ps if bloods come up with a positive but they don't scan u for a while then I wouldnt worry they are only waiting for a more suitable time to scan you when you will see a lot more. I still worried waiting for my scans mind so I know it's easier said than done. I had the 4week one, 5week 5 days (sac and yolk seen) they wouldn't show me pic, one at 7 weeks 3 days I think ( heartbeat) my 9 week showed a peanut with arms. Things change so quickly during those early days.

Oh no please don't worry, as I said at the time it was estimated from my LMP etc that I was 4 weeks but I can't remember exactly what the + days was, and by my 12 week scan again I am not certain but I think my dates were put ahead by quite a few days, so the scan itself may have been 5+ something. Sorry I didn't mean to panic you, dates at this stage unless you know conception date aren't totally text book.
I went for another scan again not certain of dates (memory really has been eaten away) was over 3 weeks later, and there was a HB etc.
It was over 4 years ago now and am pregnant with my 3rd now, so alot has merged and been forgotten sorry.

Don't worry too much. I had a scan at around 4 weeks after being admitted to hospital with dreadful pains. Was told I had a positive pregnancy test but then a scan showed up nothing at all and it was suggested that I wasn't pregnant. I was pregnant and DS showed up on scans a week or so later.

Thank you all so much .. i really mean it. so grateful for the reassurance.

I had the call back hormones levels are 162 (i think) and progestion(sp?) was 70 she said these were perfect for my gestation and that there would be no way of seeing a baby at that stage.

Still me being daft i will worry till .. well till the baby is out, but then it will just get worse lol.

I have another app on wed just to make sure the levels are rising

gosh sorry spelling is terrible, just feeding baby at mo

As it happens, I had a scan that early with my first pregnancy. I had no idea I was pregnant - I had the scan because they were trying to figure out whether I had PCOS (I did). When I realised about a week later that I was actually pregnant I phoned the doctor and asked whether it was possible I was pregnant but that they hadn't seen anything on the scan. She said yes, and the proof is my 4-year-old... So don't worry!

I had a scan at 6 weeks but they insisted I was only 4 weeks (which was impossible). There was a sac but it was empty and we weren't too hopeful. A week later we had another scan and I was told that I was 7 weeks (the dates I thought) and had ID twins in the sac! Don't panic about not seeing anything, 4 weeks is only really 2 weeks after conception. x

I didn't have my levels done so can't help on that sorry. Hopefully someone can reassure you soon. I am sure if they said it was okay then they will be, but I know this pregnancy lark is worrying.

Good Luck. Have they said if they are going to scan you again in a few weeks?

She said today that they will prob scan me again at 6 weeks.

It so annoying all this because i had a dodgy period last month lol otherwise i could of just plodded along as normal.

If it helps with my 1st I had a dodgy period before my BFP, it was alot lighter and lasted only 2 days which was really unusual for me, so I was a little convinced I was further gone than I was, so I was like yourself, quite worried after my scan. But after I had my scan at 6/7 weeks and saw the HB etc, it felt much more real and relaxing.

Yeah it's mostly the doctors that were concerned i knew i wasn't pregnant from then but they wanted to make sure and now all this worrying etc

Your levels sound fine to me, although the real test is how they increase over a 48 - 72 hour period. I had my first scan around 4 weeks 3 days and they could barely see anything at all. The consultant eventually found a sac, but still said that it could be a pseudo sac, as my HcG levels were not increasing as fast as they should. I had repeat scans for the next 4 days, and they eventually saw a definite sac at 5 weeks. I was told that it still wasn't big enough for dates, and sent away for another 2 weeks to wait it out.

My levels not rising / sac not big enough for dates is a healthy 5 year old tucked up in bed! I agree that early scans can provide more worry than reassurance, but hopefully you will get a far clearer picture when you go back at 6 weeks.

I'm amazed they did the scan! I had an early one because of previous problems, but they wouldn't do it until 6 weeks as there'd be nothing to see otherwise (even warned me there may jot be much to see at 6 weeks)

I know the lady who scaned me said i should never of been scanned either.

God im so wrried about everything, i need to stop googeling bloody hormone levels .. but she did say they were fine but they seam low compared to others

I had my first scan at 5 weeks and there was nothing there. However, the doctor looked at the corpus luteum and said that it was enlarged with a lot of blood flow, so it looked as if it was sustaining a pregnancy.

He then checked my tubes to see if it was ectopic, but couldn't see anything that worried him.

He did show me how much my uterus was enlarged, so he said that it all looked good.

I went back 2 weeks later and there was my little bean with a flickering heartbeat, however it measured small at 6+1.
The next scan4 weeks later showed a large bouncy baby and my dates were moved to 11 weeks.

The reason for the small measurement was a strongly tilted uterus (so strongly tilted that the 11 week scann still had to be done internally) and a baby that implanted in the far end.

Please don't worry Katy. I'm sure all will be fine

Hi I'm New to this but i wanted to share with you my story.

My last period was the 7th may, i conceived on the 21st may.
I done 10 hpt and they were all positive yet the urine test in the doctors was Negative. I was sent for Bloods on Friday the 10th June and my HCG was only 77- i was told it was way to low and i will lose my baby i had been TTC for 19 months. I went for a repeat HCG on Sunday 12th and it had gone up to 196:) This time they left me a week, i when back on the Saturday 18th with pains and blood was taking again to measure my HCG and it when up to 2819 , Great news. I was book in for a scan on Monday the 20th, I had both scans internal etc, and they said my left ovrie was very large but this was later said to be a cyst and the pregnancy is in the correct place. But only a sac was seen nothing else, i was ohh great i hope this is not 1 of them made up pregnancy where you body ill produce hcg etc so you get the positive test etc but nothing grows. I 'm Just like you worried sick i go back on Monday 4th July to see if there is anything in the sac!
My doctor really helped me stop worrying she said the following- We as Doctors date your Pregnancy from you last period to help us! Yet you and ur body did not become pregnant have any hormones etc inside until around 2 weeks later! So for me going by the Doctors (1st day of my last period) when i was scan i was 6 weeks and 2 days BUT going by ovulation and when my body become pregnant and i had a baby growing in me i would have ONLY been 4 + 2 days Explaining why there is nothing on the screen yet.
Now i had a 2 week wait from my scan (1 week left) witch works out i will be 6 weeks from ovulation when they are to expect to see anything, as soon as they do i can be confirm as 8 weeks pregnant and my 12 week scan will confirm dates better:)

I hope this helps you better, as your HCG is fine to me and i believe you Just having the same as my self.

Hi everyone I'm a bit concerned I had an etopic pregnancy last year I had my hg level tested at 6 weeks and showed 3546 now I'm 4 weeks pregnant and it 465 is that's what's surpossed to be around 4 weeks my hospital is hopless

Hi, I am 33 yrs old and this is my first pregnancy. I also have PCOD and irregular periods around 40 to 45 days. I got my last periods on 14th Jan"16. I was advised to have ultrasound and found 4 weeks and 3 days, the inference says that no sac was visualized. Dr said that I am late by 3 weeks or my conception itself would have happened late. I am much worried about it. Do anyone of you have any clue about it. Pl share.
